What is the Le Pharaoh slot?

Le Pharaoh belongs to Hacksaw Gaming's run of 'Le' titles, which on our site also includes Le Bandit and Le Viking. This one is set among the pyramids, but its feature names give away a second theme: rainbows, clovers and pots of gold, the classic symbols of Irish luck. If you enjoy Egyptian slots but want something less traditional than a book-style game, it sits in an unusual middle ground.

Mechanically it is a 19-line game on a 6x5 grid. Wins form along fixed paylines rather than ways, and the action comes from respins and coin features rather than a classic wild-and-scatter loop. Its volatility is rated medium, 3 on a 5-point scale.

How the Le Pharaoh features work

Sticky Re-Drops and Golden Squares

Every winning combination triggers a Sticky Re-Drop. The symbols that formed the win stay where they are, and the positions they occupy become Golden Squares. Everything else on the grid drops again, giving another chance to add to or extend the win. It works like a chain of respins driven by success: as long as new wins keep forming, more of the grid turns gold.

The Rainbow symbol and Golden Riches

Golden Squares matter because of the Rainbow symbol. When a Rainbow lands it triggers Golden Riches, and each Golden Square turns into one of three things: a coin with a value, a clover that multiplies coins, or a Pot of Gold that collects them. So a long Re-Drop sequence followed by a Rainbow gives the game a bigger area to fill with coins, clovers and pots. A Rainbow that arrives when there are few or no Golden Squares has much less to work with.

Three or four scatters: your choice of bonus

Landing three or four scatters offers a choice between two rounds. Luck of the Pharaoh is a free spins round, and Lost Treasures is a hold-and-win style feature. Four scatters upgrade whichever you pick to its Super version. The help screen spells out what each round contains and how the Super versions differ, so read it before you choose.

Five scatters: Rainbow Over the Pyramids

Five scatters skip the choice and start Rainbow Over the Pyramids, in which a Rainbow appears on every spin. Since the Rainbow is what turns Golden Squares into coins, clovers and pots, this is the round in which the coin mechanic fires most consistently.

Free spins or hold and win: does the choice change the odds?

A bonus choice feels like a skill decision, but it is not one in any meaningful sense. Game designers normally balance the options so that each returns a similar average, with the difference lying in how the outcome is spread. One route might give steadier mid-sized results while the other leans on rarer large ones. Hacksaw does not publish separate returns for Luck of the Pharaoh and Lost Treasures, so the honest answer is that the 96.18% RTP covers the game as a whole, and neither choice beats it.

Pick the round you find more fun to watch. That is a perfectly good reason, and it is the only one the maths supports.

Le Pharaoh RTP: what it costs per hour

With an RTP of 96.18%, the long-run cost of Le Pharaoh is 3.82% of everything you stake. Because UK spins must take at least 2.5 seconds, speed is capped, but a relaxed pace is slower still. The table assumes 400 spins in an hour, purely for illustration, and shows what that means at three stake levels.

Average cost of an hour on Le Pharaoh (400 spins, 3.82% edge)
StakeTotal staked in the hourAverage loss in the hour£20 lasts (no wins)Max win at this stake
10p£40About £1.53200 spins£1,500
50p£200About £7.6440 spins£7,500
£1£400About £15.2820 spins£15,000

The averages hide a lot of movement. Medium volatility means a mix of small re-drop wins and occasional feature rounds, and any single hour can finish well ahead or well behind the figure in the table. What the table does show is that stake size matters far more to your cost than anything else you control. A £20 budget at £1 a spin could be gone in 20 spins; the same £20 at 10p gives the features 200 chances to appear.

The 96.18% figure is the developer's published RTP. Casinos can sometimes choose from different RTP settings, so check the game's help screen where you play.

Le Pharaoh max win of 15,000x

The cap is 15,000 times your stake: £1,500 on a 10p spin, £30,000 at a £2 stake and £75,000 at the £5 maximum allowed to over-25s on UK slots. A figure like that depends on several things lining up at once, such as a long Sticky Re-Drop chain, a grid full of Golden Squares and strong clovers and pots in the coin feature, or the right result in one of the scatter rounds.

Treat the cap as a description of the game's ceiling, not a goal. Our explainer on what a max win cap means covers how games handle reaching it.

How to play Le Pharaoh step by step

  1. Sign in at a UKGC-licensed casino; your age and identity must be verified before you can play, even in demo mode.
  2. Open Le Pharaoh and read the help screen, noting the RTP your casino offers and the rules for each bonus.
  3. Set your stake. Remember the UK cap of £5 a spin from age 25, or £2 if you are 18 to 24.
  4. Spin manually; each spin takes at least 2.5 seconds, and there is no autoplay or turbo in the UK.
  5. When a win lands, watch the Sticky Re-Drop: the winning symbols hold as Golden Squares while the rest respin.
  6. If you land three or four scatters, choose Luck of the Pharaoh or Lost Treasures; five scatters start Rainbow Over the Pyramids automatically.
  7. Keep an eye on the net position and session timer, and finish when you hit your budget or time limit.

Le Pharaoh UK rules and what they change

Le Pharaoh is an online slot, so the Gambling Commission's stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab) applies: £5 per game cycle for players aged 25 and over since 9 April 2025, and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds since 21 May 2025. A game cycle includes the respins and features that follow your paid spin, so a Re-Drop chain does not count as a new stake. See our page on UK slot stake limits for worked cases.

The Commission's RTS 14 product design standard (opens in a new tab) sets the 2.5-second minimum spin time, bans turbo and slam-stop and stops games from celebrating a return that does not beat your stake. Autoplay has been banned on UK slots since 31 October 2021, as our game speed rules page explains.

Some slots sold in other markets include a paid bonus buy. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players, so in the UK every Le Pharaoh feature has to come from normal spins.

Le Pharaoh pros and cons

Advantages

  • Sticky Re-Drops make every win a chance for more action on the same paid spin.
  • A real choice of bonus round adds variety without changing the overall return.
  • Medium volatility suits budgets that want features without extreme swings.
  • Published figures are clear: 96.18% RTP and a 15,000x cap.

Drawbacks

  • The 3.82% edge is a little above many popular slots, so it costs slightly more per £1 staked.
  • The coin features depend on Golden Squares being on the grid when a Rainbow lands.
  • The rainbow-meets-pyramids theme will not suit anyone who wants a classic Egyptian look.

Independent descriptions of the feature set, such as the OLBG Le Pharaoh guide (opens in a new tab) and the SlotCatalog Le Pharaoh listing (opens in a new tab), describe the same Re-Drop and Rainbow mechanics set out above.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of Le Pharaoh?

Le Pharaoh has a published RTP of 96.18%, so the house edge is 3.82%. On average the game keeps about 3.8p of every £1 staked, though any one session can differ widely. Some casinos may run a different RTP setting, so check the figure in the game's help screen before you play. Our guide to RTP and house edge explains how the two numbers relate.

How do Sticky Re-Drops work in Le Pharaoh?

Sticky Re-Drops hold winning symbols in place after a win and turn their positions into Golden Squares, while the rest of the grid drops again. If the new drop forms another win, the process repeats. The Golden Squares then matter when a Rainbow lands, because they become coins, clovers or Pots of Gold. It is a type of respin feature, covered in more depth on our slot respins page.

How much can you win on Le Pharaoh?

The top prize is 15,000 times your stake. That is £1,500 on a 10p spin, £30,000 at a £2 stake and £75,000 at £5, the highest stake allowed on UK slots for players aged 25 and over. Results near the cap are extremely rare, and most sessions end far below it. Our page on slot max wins puts caps like this in context.

Should I pick free spins or Lost Treasures on Le Pharaoh?

Neither choice gives you better odds than the game's overall 96.18% RTP. Slot designers usually balance optional bonus rounds to return similar averages, with the difference in how results are spread, and Hacksaw does not publish separate figures for each round. Choose the round you enjoy more. Our hold and win and free spins explainers describe how each type of round typically plays.

Is Le Pharaoh high volatility?

Le Pharaoh is rated medium volatility, 3 on a 5-point scale. That suggests a balance between regular small wins from Sticky Re-Drops and less frequent larger results from the coin and scatter features. Medium does not mean steady, though, and swings of your whole budget are still possible. Compare it with our high volatility slots list to see how different games are rated.

Can I buy the Le Pharaoh bonus in the UK?

No. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players, so the Le Pharaoh bonus rounds can only start from scatters landing in normal play. Some slots show a buy option in other markets, but it is not offered to British players. Our bonus buy rules page explains why the Commission raised concerns.

Who makes Le Pharaoh?

Le Pharaoh is made by Hacksaw Gaming, a studio launched in September 2018 and headquartered in Malta. Its parent, Hacksaw AB, has been listed on Nasdaq Stockholm since June 2025, and the studio holds a Gambling Commission licence for Great Britain. Its best-known slot is Wanted Dead or a Wild. See our Hacksaw Gaming provider page for more of its games.

What is the maximum stake on Le Pharaoh in the UK?

The legal maximum is £5 per spin if you are 25 or over and £2 if you are 18 to 24, because Le Pharaoh counts as an online slot. Respins and bonus rounds that follow your paid spin are part of the same game cycle and do not count as new stakes. The game's own stake menu may top out lower. Read more on our UK slot stake limits page.
