Casino payment methods

Casino payment methods in the UK, compared: debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, pay by bank, e-wallets and prepaid vouchers. See which methods our five reviewed casinos list, what each casino says about withdrawal times and fees, and which methods are excluded from welcome offers.

How casino payment methods work in the UK

Casino payment methods in Great Britain fall into four groups: debit cards, e-wallets such as PayPal and Skrill, bank-based payments such as Trustly’s pay by bank, and prepaid vouchers such as Paysafecard. Mobile wallets like Apple Pay sit on top of a card you already hold. Credit cards have been banned for gambling since 14 April 2020, and that includes e-wallets loaded from a credit card, as our page on the credit card ban explains.

Withdrawals usually go back to the method you deposited with, where it supports payouts. Two rules help here: an operator can’t let you cancel a withdrawal to keep playing with the money, and it can’t demand ID at the withdrawal stage if it could have asked for it earlier. Our guide to ID checks for withdrawals covers the rest.

This table shows the deposit methods we could confirm for each casino. Not published means we couldn’t confirm it, not that it’s missing; check the casino’s cashier.

Deposit and withdrawal lists aren’t always the same. Casumo, for instance, lists Neteller and MuchBetter for withdrawals but doesn’t publish them for deposits, while Coral and Ladbrokes list bank transfer for withdrawals only. Coral and Ladbrokes also cap a single deposit at £2,000 for UK customers.

Withdrawal times, fees and offer exclusions

  • Speed: Coral and Ladbrokes quote internal approval, then instant to five banking days by method. Casumo says requests are approved or denied within 3 days and e-wallets pay instantly after approval. 10bet quotes up to 2 business days for cards and e-wallets. See withdrawal times.
  • Fees: Coral and Ladbrokes say they charge no withdrawal fees; Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals under £10. Our withdrawal fees page lists what each casino publishes.
  • Offers: e-wallets and prepaid cards often don’t qualify. Coral and Ladbrokes exclude PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafe and prepaid cards from their welcome offers, and 10bet excludes Skrill and Neteller. Offers are 18+ and terms apply; the full list is on payment method exclusions.

Choosing a casino payment method

If you want a welcome offer, a debit card is usually the method that qualifies, though Coral excludes certain debit cards too, so read the terms first. If speed matters more, compare what each casino publishes for e-wallets and Visa Fast Funds. If you want a firm barrier, most UK banks offer a gambling block on debit cards; the Gambling Commission’s list of banks (opens in a new tab) shows which, and our bank gambling blocks guide explains that card blocks may not stop bank transfers or some third-party apps.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a credit card at a UK online casino?

No. Gambling with a credit card has been banned in Great Britain since 14 April 2020, online and in venues, and operators taking e-wallet payments should check the wallet wasn’t loaded from a credit card. Debit cards, bank payments and prepaid vouchers remain allowed. Our page on the credit card ban explains the rule and its few exceptions, such as lottery tickets bought in shops.

What is the fastest way to withdraw from a UK casino?

It depends on the casino rather than the method alone. Casumo says e-wallet payouts arrive instantly after approval, Coral and Ladbrokes offer Visa Fast Funds with approval typically within a couple of hours, and PlayOJO says it processes most payments within a few hours. Approval and ID checks usually take longer than the transfer. Our fast withdrawals guide compares the published times.

Why do some payment methods not qualify for casino bonuses?

Casinos exclude some e-wallets and prepaid methods from welcome offers, mainly to limit bonus misuse. At Coral, for example, Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards don’t qualify for the 100 free spins, which need a £10 bet on slots and are 18+ with terms applying. Our page on payment method exclusions lists each casino’s rules.

Do UK casinos charge withdrawal fees?

Most of the casinos we cover don’t for normal withdrawals. Coral and Ladbrokes state that they charge no withdrawal fees, while Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals below £10 and nothing at £10 or more. PlayOJO and 10bet don’t publish fee details, so check the cashier. Your payment provider may charge separately. See withdrawal fees for the details.

Why is my casino withdrawal pending?

Most withdrawals pass an internal review before money is sent, and that review often includes identity or payment checks. Coral and Ladbrokes, for example, say their published timeframes start only after internal approval. UK rules stop casinos offering to reverse a withdrawal so you can keep playing. Our guide to pending withdrawals explains the usual causes and what to do if it drags on.
