Coral safer gambling tools
Coral safer gambling tools include deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion, and as a UK-licensed site Coral must also take part in GAMSTOP and prompt you to set a limit before your first deposit. Coral safer gambling tools at a glance
The Coral Casino app listing confirms that safer gambling tools are built in, and the Gambling Commission's licence conditions set the minimum every UK operator must provide. Coral is run by LC International Limited under Commission account 54743, so the same rules apply to it as to every other British-licensed casino. The exact menu names inside Coral's account area aren't published in the sources we've checked, so look under your account or settings for a safer gambling section.
| Tool | What it does | Rule behind it |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | Caps how much you can pay in over a day, week or month | Limit prompt before first deposit since 31 October 2025 |
| Time-out | Blocks play for a short break you choose | LCCP 3.3.4 remote time-out facility |
| Self-exclusion | Closes access for a longer period, at least six months for GAMSTOP | LCCP 3.5.3 |
| GAMSTOP | Excludes you from all GB-licensed gambling websites and apps | Compulsory for online operators since 31 March 2020 |
| Net position and time display | Shows your spend and time played in each session | Extended to all online casino games in January 2025 |
| Marketing controls | Lets you turn off casino, betting or bingo messages by channel | LCCP 5.1.12, since 1 May 2025 |
Our safer gambling hub explains each of these tools in general terms. The sections below focus on how they work in practice at Coral.
Setting a deposit limit at Coral
Since 31 October 2025, UK operators must prompt you to set a financial limit before your first deposit, with setting one as the default and opting out needing a deliberate choice. You type your own amount rather than picking from suggested figures, the limit applies across your whole account, and links to it must sit on the homepage and deposit pages. If you lower a limit, the change must be actioned immediately. Check Coral's terms for how a request to raise a limit is handled.
Operators also have to offer gross deposit limits, which count every pound you pay in regardless of withdrawals, and only these may be called 'deposit limits'. The Commission set a deadline of 30 September 2026 for that change, as explained in its post on changes to financial limit tools (opens in a new tab). If you already have a limit, you'll be reminded to review it at least every six months.
Our answer on what happens when a deposit limit is reached covers the moment you hit the cap: deposits stop until the period resets.
Taking a time-out from Coral
A time-out is a short break. Under the Commission's remote time-out condition, LCCP 3.3.4 (opens in a new tab), online operators must let customers pause their gambling for a period. During it you can't play, which gives you breathing space away from the games.
Time-outs suit moments when you want space without closing your account: a stressful week, a run of losses you feel tempted to win back, or simply a sense that you're playing out of habit. If you notice you're chasing losses, a time-out is a good first step. Our page on casino time-outs compares them with longer exclusions.
Self-exclusion at Coral and with GAMSTOP
Self-exclusion is for when you want to stop for months or years. You can ask Coral to exclude you, and you can register with GAMSTOP, the national scheme that covers every gambling website and app licensed in Great Britain. Because Coral and Ladbrokes are run by the same company, ask Coral's support team whether an exclusion with Coral also covers its sister brands. GAMSTOP removes any doubt by covering them all.
| Option | Length | Covers | Can you reverse it early? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time-out | A short break you choose | Your Coral account | Check Coral's terms |
| Self-exclusion with Coral | Longer periods set by Coral | Coral (ask about sister brands) | No, not during the period |
| GAMSTOP | Between 6 months and 5 years, with renewal possible | All GB-licensed gambling websites and apps | No; after expiry it stays until you ask GAMSTOP to remove it |
| Bank gambling block | Until you turn it off; some banks add a delay | Card payments to gambling firms | Depends on your bank |
When you self-exclude, the operator must refuse you service, close your account and return any balance, and take you off marketing lists within two days. You can register with GAMSTOP (opens in a new tab) online. Our guides to self-exclusion and GAMSTOP explain each step, and our answer on what happens to your balance if you self-exclude covers your money.
How to set up Coral safer gambling tools
- Decide on a monthly amount you can afford to lose before you open the cashier.
- When Coral prompts you before your first deposit, enter that amount as your limit rather than opting out.
- Turn off casino marketing messages in your account preferences if offers tempt you to play more.
- Watch the net position and session time shown in each game, and stop when you reach your plan.
- Take a time-out if you feel the urge to win back losses.
- Self-exclude with Coral and GAMSTOP if breaks aren't enough.
Our safer play checklist turns this into a one-page routine, and our guide to setting a gambling budget helps you decide the numbers.
Protections built into every Coral game
Some protections don't need you to do anything, because UK rules build them into the games.
- Stake limits on slots: £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18 to 24. These apply to slots only; see our slot stake limits guide.
- No autoplay: banned on slots since October 2021 and on all online casino games, live casino included, since 17 January 2025.
- Minimum game speed: at least 2.5 seconds per slot spin and 5 seconds per round on other casino games.
- No turbo or slam-stop on slots, and no celebrating a return that's lower than your stake.
- One game at a time: you can't play several casino games at once.
- Spend and time on screen: your net position and time played are shown in real time.
Behind the scenes, operators must also watch for signs of harm from the moment you open an account, and run a financial vulnerability check against public records once your net deposits pass £150 in 30 days. Our page on financial risk checks explains what that check does and doesn't involve.
Safer gambling tools outside Coral
Tools inside a casino only work at that casino. Adding a layer outside it makes a slip much harder.
- Bank gambling blocks: the Commission lists Bank of Scotland, Barclays, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds, Monzo, NatWest, RBS, Santander and Starling as offering them. See our bank gambling blocks guide.
- Blocking software: apps such as Gamban stop gambling sites loading on your devices, and Halifax and Lloyds offer it to customers. Our blocking software guide compares options.
- Credit cards: these can't be used to gamble in Great Britain, including through e-wallets funded by a credit card, so borrowing to play via a card isn't possible at Coral.
Coral's safer gambling record
It's fair to know an operator's history. In August 2022, Entain, the group behind Coral and Ladbrokes, agreed to pay £17 million over social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures, as set out in the Commission's notice that Entain would pay £17 million for regulatory failures (opens in a new tab). Most UK enforcement cases between 2024 and 2026 have also centred on how operators spot and respond to signs of harm.
That history is a reason to use the tools yourself rather than relying on any operator to step in. Our signs of problem gambling page lists the warning signs worth watching for in yourself or someone close to you. For the same tools at Coral's sister site, see Ladbrokes safer gambling tools.
Where to get support if gambling at Coral isn't fun any more
If gambling is costing more money, time or peace of mind than you'd like, talking to someone helps. These services are independent of Coral and cost nothing to use.

Frequently asked questions
How do I set a deposit limit at Coral?
Coral must prompt you to set a financial limit before your first deposit, and you can add or change one later in your account settings. You type your own amount, and lowering a limit takes effect straight away. Choose a figure you could lose without it affecting essentials. Our deposit limits guide explains daily, weekly and monthly options.
Can I take a short break from Coral?
Yes: UK licence conditions require online operators such as Coral to offer a time-out facility. During the break you can't play at Coral. A time-out is useful when you want space without closing your account, for example after a losing run or during a stressful week when gambling feels harder to control. Our guide to casino time-outs compares breaks with longer self-exclusion.
Does self-excluding from Coral also block Ladbrokes?
Ask Coral's support team, because both brands are run by LC International Limited and its rules on sister brands aren't published in the sources we've checked. If you want certainty, register with GAMSTOP, which covers every gambling website and app licensed in Great Britain at once, Coral and Ladbrokes included. Our GAMSTOP guide explains how registration works.
How long does GAMSTOP last?
You choose a period between 6 months and 5 years, and you can't cancel during that time. When the period ends, the exclusion stays in place until you contact GAMSTOP to remove it, so it never lapses by accident. All online operators licensed in Great Britain have had to take part since 31 March 2020. Our self-exclusion guide covers the other schemes available.
What happens to my Coral balance if I self-exclude?
Under UK rules, an operator must close the account of a customer who self-excludes and return any money held in it. It must also stop sending you marketing within two days and point you to support. If you're unsure about a balance, contact Coral's support team. Our answer on your balance after self-exclusion explains the rules in more detail.
Can I block Coral payments through my bank?
Many UK banks let you block card payments to gambling businesses. The Gambling Commission lists Bank of Scotland, Barclays, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds, Monzo, NatWest, RBS, Santander and Starling, and some banks, such as HSBC and Monzo, add a cooling-off delay before a block can be turned off. Our bank gambling blocks guide shows where to find the setting, and our answer on blocking gambling payments covers the details.
Why does Coral show my net position while I play?
Since January 2025, UK rules require online casino games, not just slots, to show your net spend and time played in real time. It helps you see what a session is really costing rather than relying on memory. If the figure is higher than you planned, that's a good moment to stop. Our page on reality checks explains how timers and spend displays help.
Who can I talk to about my gambling at Coral?
The National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare, is open 24 hours a day on 0808 8020 133 and costs nothing to call. You can also use live chat, contact NHS gambling services, or join a Gamblers Anonymous meeting. None of these services is linked to Coral. Our gambling support guide and NHS treatment page list more options.
