Crazy Time vs Funky Time
Crazy Time vs Funky Time is a choice between two Evolution money-wheel shows with four bonus games each. Crazy Time, from July 2020, spins a 54-segment wheel with a Top Slot multiplier and a published RTP of 94.41% to 96.08%. Funky Time, from May 2023, uses a 64-segment DigiWheel spelling PLAY, FUNK and TIME with disco-themed bonuses; check its help screen for RTP.
Key takeaways
- Crazy Time’s theoretical RTP is 94.41% to 96.08% depending on the bet, a house edge of 3.92% to 5.59%.
- Funky Time’s wheel has 64 segments against Crazy Time’s 54, and adds letter bets with a default 25:1 payout.
- Crazy Time’s rarest bonus segment, Crazy Time itself, lands about 1 time in 54 spins on average.
- Both shows reserve bonus rounds for players who bet on that bonus; everyone else only watches.
- UK rules ban autoplay on live games, but online slot stake limits do not apply to these shows.

Crazy Time vs Funky Time: our verdict
Both shows come from Evolution and follow the same idea: bet on where a big wheel will stop, with numbers paying fixed odds and bonus segments opening a second game. Crazy Time is the better choice if you want a published RTP to judge your cost by, because Evolution states 94.41% to 96.08%. Funky Time offers more segments, letter bets and arguably more varied bonus play, but its RTP was not in the developer pages we checked, so read the game’s help screen before you stake.
Neither is a cheap way to gamble compared with low-edge table games. A 3.92% to 5.59% edge is higher than European roulette’s 2.70%, so think of both as entertainment priced for the spectacle.

The wheels: 54 segments against a 64-segment DigiWheel
Crazy Time’s physical money wheel has 54 segments. Evolution’s rules give four Coin Flip segments, two Cash Hunt segments and one Crazy Time segment, with the rest made up of number segments (1, 2, 5 and 10) and Pachinko. Before each spin the Top Slot can attach a multiplier of up to 50x to one number or bonus.
Funky Time swaps the classic wheel for a 64-segment DigiWheel. Its segments spell out PLAY, FUNK and TIME, sit alongside number 1 segments and the four bonus segments, and the letter bets carry a default 25:1 payout according to Evolution’s product page. Evolution’s chief product officer called it the most expensive and complex game the studio had made, in the Funky Time launch announcement (opens in a new tab).
What the segment counts mean for your chances
On a fair wheel every segment is equally likely, so a segment’s probability is its count divided by the total. Where Evolution publishes counts we can do the sums; where it does not, we leave them out.
| Segment | Count | Chance per spin | Roughly once every |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crazy Time: Coin Flip | 4 of 54 | 7.41% | 13.5 spins |
| Crazy Time: Cash Hunt | 2 of 54 | 3.70% | 27 spins |
| Crazy Time: Crazy Time | 1 of 54 | 1.85% | 54 spins |
| Funky Time: any single segment | 1 of 64 | 1.56% | 64 spins |
The ‘roughly once every’ column is an average, not a schedule. Spins are independent, so a bonus can arrive twice in a row or not for hundreds of spins; it is never due.
Bonus games compared: Crazy Time vs Funky Time
This is where the two shows feel most different. Crazy Time’s bonuses are four separate mini-games, from a simple two-sided coin to a giant wheel in a virtual room. Funky Time’s bonuses lean on picks, ball draws and a moving character on a dance floor.
| Show | Bonus | How it plays | Stated top value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crazy Time | Coin Flip | A coin with a red and a blue multiplier is flipped | Up to 5,000x with a 50x Top Slot |
| Crazy Time | Cash Hunt | Each player shoots at a grid hiding 108 multipliers | Recorded 25,000x win on 11 December 2022 |
| Crazy Time | Pachinko | A puck drops down a wall of pegs onto multipliers | Capped at 10,000x |
| Crazy Time | Crazy Time | A large wheel in a virtual room, with flappers chosen by players | Up to 20,000x |
| Funky Time | Bar | Pick one of three glasses; a reel adds an extra multiplier to one | Check the help screen |
| Funky Time | Stayin’ Alive | 90 coloured balls move your team up a 20-level ladder; four lives | Ladder runs 5x to 10,000x |
| Funky Time | Disco | Mr Funky dances across a 37-square floor collecting multipliers | Check the help screen |
| Funky Time | VIP Disco | The same idea on a larger 63-square floor | Check the help screen |
In both games only players who bet on a bonus segment take part in that bonus. Evolution also states Crazy Time bonus wins can reach up to €500,000, and its record 25,000x Cash Hunt result shows the 20,000x figure is not an absolute ceiling once a Top Slot multiplier applies. Our game show RTP comparison puts these figures beside other shows.
Crazy Time RTP vs Funky Time RTP and house edge
Evolution’s Crazy Time how-to-play page (opens in a new tab) gives a theoretical RTP of 94.41% to 96.08%, depending on the bet. Converted to house edge, that is 3.92% at best and 5.59% at worst. The per-bet breakdown sits in the game’s help screen, so check which bets carry the higher figure before choosing.
For Funky Time, the developer pages we checked did not state an RTP or an overall maximum win. That is not unusual for a product page, and UK rules require the game to show information about your chances, so the in-game help screen is where to find it. Until you have read it, you cannot work out what a session will cost on average.
RTP is a long-run average across millions of rounds. A show with big bonus multipliers can swing wildly over an evening, and most rounds return less than you staked.
What a session costs: worked examples
Expected cost equals total staked multiplied by the house edge. Using Crazy Time’s published range, here is what £1 a round costs over a session of 100 rounds. Pace varies with bonus rounds, so the table counts rounds rather than hours; our cost per hour guide shows how to convert.
| Bet’s RTP | House edge | Cost per round | Cost per 100 rounds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 96.08% (best bet) | 3.92% | 3.9p | £3.92 |
| 94.41% (worst bet) | 5.59% | 5.6p | £5.59 |
| Spread £1 over four bets of 25p | Weighted average of the four | between 3.9p and 5.6p | between £3.92 and £5.59 |
Spreading your stake across numbers and bonuses does not reduce cost; it averages the edges of the bets you choose. For Funky Time, multiply your stake by the house edge from the help screen in the same way.
How a round plays in each show
- Pick your chips and place bets during the betting window (15 seconds in Crazy Time).
- In Crazy Time, watch the Top Slot set a multiplier on one segment; in Funky Time, watch for any wheel multiplier.
- The host spins the wheel and it stops on a number, letter or bonus segment.
- Number and letter bets are paid at their odds, boosted by any multiplier that applies.
- If a bonus lands and you bet on it, play the bonus; if not, watch and wait for the next round.
A re-bet button repeats your last stakes, and the Gambling Commission has said re-bet is not autoplay. Our guide to how game shows work explains the studio set-up behind both shows.

Crazy Time or Funky Time: who each suits
Advantages
- Crazy Time: published RTP range, so cost per round is easy to estimate.
- Crazy Time: four very different bonus games and the Top Slot pre-spin multiplier.
- Funky Time: more segments and letter bets with a 25:1 default payout.
- Funky Time: bonus games built around team play, picks and a moving character.
Drawbacks
- Crazy Time: house edge up to 5.59%, higher than standard table games.
- Crazy Time: the Crazy Time bonus lands on average once in 54 spins.
- Funky Time: RTP needs checking in the help screen before you can judge cost.
- Both: most rounds pay less than the stake, and big multipliers are rare.
Our verdict: choose Crazy Time if knowing the published return matters to you and you like the variety of its four bonuses. Choose Funky Time if you prefer the disco theme and letter bets, after reading its help screen for RTP. If you are comparing with Evolution’s board-game show, see Crazy Time vs MONOPOLY Live.

Frequently asked questions
Is Crazy Time or Funky Time better?
Neither is better in money terms without knowing Funky Time’s RTP, which you need to read in its help screen. Crazy Time publishes a range of 94.41% to 96.08%, so its cost per round is easy to estimate. Funky Time offers more segments, letter bets and different bonus games. Choose the one you enjoy more, and compare the RTP of the specific bets you place. Our Crazy Time RTP question covers the published figures in detail.
What is the RTP of Funky Time?
Evolution’s product pages that we checked did not state Funky Time’s RTP, so the only reliable place to find it is the game’s own help or paytable screen. UK-licensed games must give players information about their chances, which usually includes RTP. Once you have the figure, expected cost is your total stake multiplied by the house edge (100% minus RTP). Our game show RTP comparison explains how to compare shows.
How many segments are on the Crazy Time wheel?
The Crazy Time wheel has 54 segments. Evolution gives four Coin Flip segments, two Cash Hunt segments and one Crazy Time segment, with the rest made up of numbers 1, 2, 5 and 10 and Pachinko. On a fair wheel that makes Coin Flip about a 7.41% chance per spin, Cash Hunt 3.70% and Crazy Time 1.85%. Our Crazy Time guide walks through every segment and bonus.
What is the biggest win on Crazy Time?
Evolution lists the largest recorded Crazy Time win as 25,000x, from a Cash Hunt round on 11 December 2022. Separately, it states the Crazy Time bonus can pay up to 20,000x, Pachinko is capped at 10,000x and Coin Flip can reach 5,000x with a 50x Top Slot, and bonus wins can reach up to €500,000. Wins this size are extremely rare. Our multiplier glossary entry explains how these multiply your stake.
What are the Funky Time bonus games?
Funky Time has four bonus games: Bar, Stayin’ Alive, Disco and VIP Disco. Bar lets you pick one of three glasses with multipliers; Stayin’ Alive draws from 90 coloured balls to move your team up a 20-level ladder from 5x to 10,000x; Disco and VIP Disco send Mr Funky across a 37-square or 63-square floor collecting multipliers. Only players who bet on a bonus take part. Our Funky Time guide covers each one.
Can you use autoplay on Crazy Time or Funky Time in the UK?
No. The Gambling Commission banned autoplay for all online casino games, including live casino, from 17 January 2025. You can still use a re-bet button to repeat your previous stakes, which the Commission has said is not autoplay. Casino games other than slots must also allow at least 5 seconds per game cycle. Our autoplay ban page explains the rule and its history.
Is there a strategy for Crazy Time or Funky Time?
There is no strategy that beats either show, because every spin is independent and each bet carries a house edge. What you can control is cost: choose bets with the higher RTP where the help screen shows it, keep stakes small and fixed, and set a budget and round count in advance. Covering more segments only averages the edges of the bets you pick. Our game show strategy page covers sensible budgeting.
Do UK slot stake limits apply to Crazy Time?
No. The £5 per spin limit for over-25s and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds apply to online slots, which the Gambling Commission defines as reel-based casino games. Live game shows such as Crazy Time and Funky Time are not covered, so the table limits set by the game apply instead. That makes your own budget the main control. Our slot stake limits page explains what the rule covers.
