Ezugi live casino
Ezugi live casino is the smaller of Evolution's two live dealer brands: a studio founded in 2012 that Evolution agreed to buy in November 2018. Here we set out its licences, what its best-documented game costs, how it differs from Evolution's own tables, and what a UK player should check before sitting down at an Ezugi table.
Key takeaways
- Ezugi was founded in 2012 and Evolution announced it would buy the company on 21 November 2018.
- Evolution's licences page lists Ezugi licences in Romania, Curaçao and Malta, but no separate Great Britain licence.
- Ezugi's Unlimited Blackjack carries a house edge of about 0.42% to 0.44% with correct basic strategy.
- Standard rules give the same odds whoever streams the table: 2.70% on single-zero roulette, 1.06% on the baccarat Banker bet.
- Only a UK-licensed casino gives you Gambling Commission protection, whatever supplier's games it shows.

What is Ezugi live casino?
Ezugi is a live dealer studio that streams card and table games to online casinos. Its founder and chief executive, Kfir Kugler, was quoted by Evolution as saying the business started in 2012. Today Evolution lists Ezugi alongside its own Evolution brand as the group's two live casino names, with the group's slot studios kept separate.
For most UK readers, the useful questions are practical ones. Which licences cover Ezugi? Do its games cost more or less than the same games elsewhere? How would you know if a table in a lobby is an Ezugi table at all? This page answers each from published sources, and flags where the sources stop.
Ezugi's history: from start-up to Evolution brand
Ezugi grew up as an independent supplier in the years when live dealer games were moving from a niche to a standard casino category. By late 2018 it was operating from several studios and serving New Jersey, Oklahoma, Europe, Latin America and South Africa, according to Evolution's announcement of the deal (opens in a new tab).
That US footprint was a big part of the appeal. Evolution said at the time that it and Ezugi were the only live casino providers operating in the American market. The purchase was all cash: an initial $12 million, with up to $6 million more depending on performance. The press release expected completion in early 2019, while Evolution's timeline files the acquisition under 2018.
| Date | Event | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 2012 | Ezugi founded | Founder quoted by Evolution |
| 27 September 2018 | Romanian licence (ONJN 2115) dated | Evolution licences page |
| 21 November 2018 | Evolution announces all-cash purchase | Evolution press release |
| Early 2019 | Completion expected | Evolution press release |
| 2019 | Malta recognition notice RN/141/2019 | Evolution licences page |
Evolution has kept the Ezugi name running rather than folding it into its own brand. The Evolution live casino guide covers the parent company's licence, studios and game families in detail.
Ezugi licences and the UK position
Evolution's licences page (opens in a new tab) lists three entries for Ezugi: a Romanian licence from the national gambling office (ONJN 2115/27.09.2018), a Curaçao licence, and a Malta Gaming Authority recognition notice, RN/141/2019. It does not list a separate Gambling Commission licence in Ezugi's name, unlike the parent company's GB licence under account 41655.
That gap doesn't tell you whether Ezugi-branded games reach British players through group arrangements. The sources we rely on simply don't say. What it does mean is that you shouldn't assume an Ezugi table is available at UK sites, and you should treat any site outside the UK system that shows Ezugi games with caution. A Curaçao or other offshore licence offers no UKGC protection: no Commission rules on fairness or customer funds, no UK complaint route and no link to GAMSTOP.
| Licence | Ezugi | Evolution |
|---|---|---|
| Great Britain (Gambling Commission) | None listed separately | Account 41655 |
| Malta | Recognition notice RN/141/2019 | MGA/CRP/187/2010/01 |
| Romania | ONJN 2115/27.09.2018 | Not covered here |

Ezugi Unlimited Blackjack: rules and odds
The Ezugi game with the clearest published maths is Unlimited Blackjack. Wizard of Odds' analysis (opens in a new tab) describes it as an eight-deck game in which the dealer stands on soft 17 and surrender isn't offered. It calculates a house edge of 0.42% with basic strategy, while the game's own help files claim a 99.56% return, which is a 0.44% edge. The two-hundredths of a percent gap comes from rounding and modelling choices; for a player the figures are effectively the same.
Here is what that means in pounds. At £10 a hand and a 0.44% edge, the expected loss is about 4.4p a hand. If you played 50 hands in an hour, that would be roughly £2.20 an hour on average. Make basic strategy errors, such as standing on 12 against a dealer 2 or taking insurance, and the cost climbs well above that.
| Rule | Unlimited Blackjack | Effect on the player |
|---|---|---|
| Decks | 8 | More decks slightly raise the house edge |
| Dealer soft 17 | Stands | Better for the player than hitting soft 17 |
| Surrender | Not offered | Removes a small player option |
| Blackjack payout | Check the help screen | 3:2 is standard; 6:5 would cost far more |
| Published house edge | 0.42% to 0.44% | Assumes perfect basic strategy |
Compare that with Evolution's Infinite Blackjack, which Wizard of Odds puts at 0.45% under similar eight-deck, stand-on-soft-17 rules. The two games are close in cost; the difference you notice at the table is presentation, not maths. Learn the right plays from our basic strategy guide, and see how many decks change the numbers.
Ezugi roulette and baccarat odds follow standard maths
A live studio doesn't change the probability of a roulette pocket or a baccarat hand. If an Ezugi table plays standard rules, the odds are the same as at any other provider's table with those rules. What can differ is the rule set itself, so always open the help screen.
- Single-zero roulette: 37 pockets. A straight-up bet wins 1 time in 37 and pays 35 to 1, so the house edge is 2.70% on every standard bet. See roulette odds.
- Double-zero roulette: 38 pockets, which pushes the edge to 5.26%. Avoid it if a single-zero table is available.
- Baccarat (eight decks): Banker 1.06%, Player 1.24%, and Tie 14.36% when it pays 8 to 1. Our baccarat house edge page shows the six-deck figures too.
- Blackjack: depends heavily on payout and dealer rules; 6:5 on a natural adds a large extra cost compared with 3:2.
The double-zero figure is simple counting: two green pockets out of 38 mean a 35 to 1 payout returns 36 units per 38 staked, so the house keeps 2 in 38, or 5.26%. A rule like that matters far more than the brand name on the table.
How to tell if a live table is from Ezugi
Casino lobbies don't always label providers clearly, and games from different studios can look alike. These steps will usually tell you who made a table and what it pays.
- Open the casino's live lobby and look for a provider filter or a provider name on the game tile.
- Launch the game and open its help or information screen, where the supplier, rules and RTP are normally shown.
- Note the payout table: blackjack payout on a natural, dealer soft-17 rule, and roulette zero rules.
- Check the casino's footer for its Gambling Commission licence number and confirm it on the public register.
- If the site has no UK licence, leave; a familiar game does not make an unlicensed site safe.
Ezugi vs Evolution: what changes for players
Ezugi and Evolution share an owner but not a profile. Evolution publishes far more about its studios, game families and returns, and it holds a GB licence in its own group's name. Ezugi's public record in the sources we use is thinner: founding year, deal terms, its 2018 markets and its licences.
| Point | Ezugi | Evolution |
|---|---|---|
| Founded | 2012 | Live casino since 2006 |
| Ownership | Evolution since the 2018 deal | Listed on Nasdaq Nordic since 2017 |
| Published blackjack edge | 0.42% to 0.44% (Unlimited) | 0.45% (Infinite, Wizard of Odds) |
| Game shows | None documented in our sources | Dream Catcher, Crazy Time and many more |
| GB licence | Not listed separately | Account 41655 |
If you want game shows such as Crazy Time, you are looking for Evolution titles, not Ezugi ones. If you just want a classic blackjack or roulette table, the cost per hand depends on the rules, not the logo.
UK rules that apply at any live table
Every live game offered by a British-licensed casino falls under the same Gambling Commission rules, whichever studio streams it. Since 17 January 2025 autoplay has been banned for all online casino games, live included, although a re-bet button is allowed. Non-slot casino games must allow at least 5 seconds from the start of one game cycle to the next, you can't play several games at once, and your net spend and time played must be visible in real time. The UK rules for live casino page explains each standard.
The online slot stake limits of £5 (or £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds) do not apply to live tables. That puts more weight on the limits you set yourself: a deposit limit and a reality check are the simplest controls, and the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free and open 24 hours a day.
Ezugi live casino myths and facts
- Myth: smaller studios run looser games. Standard rules produce standard odds. A single-zero wheel is 2.70% wherever it spins.
- Myth: a shared or unlimited table changes your chances. Other players' decisions don't alter the house edge on your own hand when you play correct strategy.
- Myth: you can count cards at a live Ezugi table. Card counting is a theory from land-based shoe games; live tables generally use shuffling methods that defeat it. Read the history in card counting in online blackjack.
- Myth: the brand guarantees the site. A game supplier's name says nothing about whether the casino holds a UK licence.

Frequently asked questions
Who owns Ezugi?
Evolution owns Ezugi. It announced the all-cash purchase on 21 November 2018, paying an initial $12 million with up to $6 million more to follow, and Evolution's timeline lists the acquisition under 2018. Ezugi still trades under its own name, and Evolution presents it as one of the group's two live casino brands next to Evolution itself. The Evolution live casino page covers the parent company's studios, licence and games.
Is Ezugi licensed in the UK?
Evolution's licences page doesn't list a separate Gambling Commission licence for Ezugi. It shows Ezugi licences in Romania, Curaçao and Malta, while the GB licence it lists belongs to Evolution's Malta holding company, account 41655. Whatever the supplier, your protection comes from the casino's own UK licence, so check that on the public register before you deposit. Our remote licences guide explains the difference between operator and supplier licences.
When was Ezugi founded?
Ezugi was founded in 2012, according to its founder and chief executive, Kfir Kugler, quoted in Evolution's announcement of the deal. By 2018 it ran several studios and served New Jersey, Oklahoma, Europe, Latin America and South Africa. Evolution announced the purchase in November 2018. For the bigger picture of how live dealer games developed, read our history of live casino.
What is the house edge on Ezugi Unlimited Blackjack?
About 0.42% to 0.44% with perfect basic strategy. Wizard of Odds calculates 0.42% for the eight-deck game in which the dealer stands on soft 17 with no surrender, and the help files claim a 99.56% return, which is 0.44%. On a £10 hand that is roughly 4.4p lost on average. Strategy mistakes and side bets raise the cost. See our blackjack house edge guide for how each rule moves the figure.
Does Ezugi make live game shows?
Not that our sources document. Ezugi's published record covers its founding, its 2018 markets and its licences, and its best-analysed game is Unlimited Blackjack. The big wheel shows that UK players know, such as Crazy Time, Dream Catcher and MONOPOLY Live, are Evolution-branded games. If game shows are what you want, start with our live game shows hub, which lists each show with its published returns.
Are Ezugi live games fair?
Live results come from physical cards, wheels and dice, so the odds follow standard game maths when standard rules are used. Fairness for UK players rests on the casino's Gambling Commission licence, which brings technical standards and testing duties. Check the help screen for the exact rules, since a 6:5 blackjack payout or a double-zero wheel costs far more than 3:2 or single zero. Our answer to whether live casino games are rigged goes further.
Is Ezugi the same as Evolution?
No, they are separate brands under one owner. Evolution bought Ezugi in a deal announced in 2018 and kept the Ezugi name. Evolution publishes far more detail about its studios and games, and it holds a GB licence in its own group's name, while Evolution's licences page lists Ezugi's licences in Romania, Curaçao and Malta. The two brands' blackjack games carry very similar house edges. Compare live play with software games in live casino vs RNG.
Can I play Ezugi live casino for free?
Live dealer tables generally need real stakes, because each round uses a real dealer and real equipment. UK sites must verify your age and identity before you play anything, including free demo games. If you want to learn a game first, an RNG version with demo play is the usual route, then move to a live table with a small stake and a clear budget. Our answer on playing live casino for free covers the options.
