What is the minimum deposit at a UK casino?

What is the minimum deposit at a UK casino? It's set by each casino, and often by each payment method, but £5 to £10 is typical. Coral and Ladbrokes publish £5 for Google Pay and Pay by Bank, and Casumo sets £10 for every method. Welcome offers often ask for more: Casumo's bonus needs £20, and Coral's spins need £10 of slot play.

Key takeaways

  • Each casino sets its own minimum deposit, often per payment method; £5 to £10 is common.
  • Coral and Ladbrokes publish £5 for Google Pay and Pay by Bank; Casumo's minimum is £10 on every method.
  • Welcome offers can need a bigger first deposit than the cashier minimum, such as £20 for Casumo's bonus.
  • A small deposit still carries the house edge: a lower minimum makes a budget easier to keep, not easier to win with.

Minimum deposits at UK casinos: who sets them

There isn't one minimum deposit across UK casinos. Each operator chooses its own, and many set different floors for different payment methods because some routes cost more to process than others. The cashier shows the exact figure when you pick a method, which is why help centres often say the minimum "is displayed on the cashier" rather than quoting a single number.

In practice the common range is £5 to £10. A few sites publish a single figure; others publish a figure only for certain methods. For the full payments picture see our minimum deposit guide, and for other money questions the casino questions hub.

Minimum deposit for a UK casino welcome offer

The cashier minimum and the offer minimum are often different. If you deposit the smallest amount the cashier allows, you may not qualify for the welcome offer at all.

Cashier minimum against offer threshold
CasinoCashier minimumTo qualify for the welcome offer
Casumo£10First deposit of at least £20, opted in
CoralFrom £5 on some methodsDeposit, then bet £10 or more on slots
10betNot publishedFirst deposit within 7 days, casino bonus chosen at sign-up
PlayOJONot publishedFirst deposit of at least £10
LadbrokesFrom £5 on some methodsDeposit, then spend £10 or more on slots

Payment method matters too. Coral's spins exclude Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards, and 10bet excludes Skrill and Neteller. Our page on low deposit bonuses looks at small-deposit offers, and payment method exclusions lists the restrictions.

What a £10 minimum deposit buys in play

A small deposit doesn't change the odds, but it does set how long your session can last and how much you can lose. Dividing the deposit by your stake gives the number of bets before any winnings are counted.

How far £10 goes at different stakes
Game and stakeBets from £10Edge or RTPExpected cost if all £10 is staked once
Slot at 10p a spin100 spins96% RTP (example)40p
Slot at 50p a spin20 spins96% RTP (example)40p
European roulette, £1 chips10 spins2.70% edge27p
European roulette, £2 chips5 spins2.70% edge27p

The expected cost on the first pass through £10 is small, but winnings are usually re-staked, so the total amount wagered grows and the expected loss grows with it. Play 300 spins at 10p on a 96% slot and you've staked £30 in total, with an expected cost of £1.20, even though you only deposited £10. Our session budget calculator and the page on how long £20 lasts on a slot work through more examples, and the RTP explainer shows what the percentage means.

Small deposits: fees, withdrawals and voucher sizes

  • Withdrawal fees on small sums. Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals below £10, so withdrawing £8 leaves you £5. There's no withdrawal fee at Coral or Ladbrokes, according to their help centres.
  • Minimum withdrawals. The Coral and Ladbrokes help centres state £5 on Fast Bank Transfer and Google Pay. PlayOJO says you can withdraw as little as you want. Casumo and 10bet don't publish a minimum.
  • Voucher sizes. UK paysafecard values are £10, £25, £40, £50, £75 and £100, so £10 is the lowest you can load that way.
  • Deposit crediting. PlayOJO notes some deposit methods can take up to 3 working days to be credited.

Deposit limits and checks that apply at any amount

Since 31 October 2025, UK casinos must prompt you to set a financial limit before your first deposit; setting one is the default and opting out has to be confirmed. Lowering a limit takes effect immediately. The Commission explained the change in its news piece on new deposit limit rules (opens in a new tab).

Two more rules apply whatever you deposit. Your age and identity must be verified before your first deposit, and once your deposits minus withdrawals pass £150 in a rolling 30 days, the casino must run a financial vulnerability check against public records. On slots, stakes are capped at £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for 18 to 24 year olds. Our deposit limits guide and page on what happens when a deposit limit is reached explain the tools.

How to pick a deposit amount

  1. Decide how much you can afford to spend on entertainment this month, before looking at any cashier.
  2. Set that figure as your deposit limit when prompted.
  3. Check the cashier minimum for your chosen payment method.
  4. If you want a welcome offer, check its minimum deposit and payment exclusions too.
  5. Divide your deposit by your stake to see how many bets it covers.
  6. Stop when the deposit is gone rather than topping up; a fresh deposit is a fresh spend.

Minimum deposit myths

  • "Bigger deposits get better odds." The house edge is the same at any deposit size; see do bigger stakes improve slot RTP?.
  • "£5 deposit casinos are less safe." Safety depends on the licence, not the minimum. Both Coral and Ladbrokes accept £5 on some methods and hold Gambling Commission licences.
  • "No-deposit bonuses mean no minimum at all." None of our partners offers a no-deposit bonus, and every account must be verified first.
  • "Depositing the minimum always gets the bonus." Casumo's offer needs £20, double its cashier minimum.

Partner offers and their deposit thresholds

Each partner offer has its own threshold, which can be higher than the cashier minimum, so check it before depositing. All offers are 18+ and terms apply. Casumo needs a first deposit of at least £20 for its 50% bonus up to £100, with opt-in required; the bonus is wagered 10x within 7 days, bets are capped at £5 while it's active, and game, play and payment restrictions apply.

10bet's 100% match up to £25 goes to new UK customers who choose the casino welcome bonus at sign-up and deposit within 7 days; wager the bonus 10x on slots within 3 days, with bonus winnings capped at £1,000 and Skrill and Neteller deposits excluded. Coral gives new players 100 free spins at 10p each on selected games when they deposit and bet £10 on slots between 1 October 2026 and 1 February 2027; accept within 48 hours, use within 7 days, no wagering on winnings, and Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid card and certain debit card deposits don't qualify. Table and live games are often excluded or count for less towards wagering.

Frequently asked questions

What is the lowest minimum deposit at a UK casino?

Among our partners, the lowest published minimum is £5, at Coral and Ladbrokes for Google Pay and Pay by Bank deposits. Their general minimum is shown in the cashier and may differ by method. Casumo's minimum is £10 on every method, and 10bet doesn't publish a figure. Remember that welcome offers often need more than the cashier minimum. Our minimum deposit guide and Pay by Bank page explain how these methods work.

What is the minimum deposit at Casumo?

Casumo's minimum deposit is £10, and it says this applies to all payment methods. Its welcome offer needs more: a first deposit of at least £20 to get the 50% bonus up to £100, with opt-in, 10x wagering on the bonus within 7 days and a £5 maximum bet while it's active. Game, play and payment restrictions apply. Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals below £10. Our Casumo payments page and Casumo welcome bonus page have the details.

Can I deposit £1 or £3 at a UK casino?

None of our five partners publishes a minimum below £5, so £1 and £3 deposits aren't available at them on published figures. The lowest published figure is £5, on Google Pay and Pay by Bank at Coral and Ladbrokes, while Casumo starts at £10. A very small deposit also runs into practical limits, such as Casumo's £3 fee on withdrawals under £10 and paysafecard's smallest value of £10. Our low deposit bonus page and guide to casino games for small budgets cover small-stake play.

Is there a maximum deposit at UK casinos?

Casinos set their own maximums, and you can set a lower personal limit. For UK customers, Coral and Ladbrokes publish a £2,000 maximum per deposit; other partners don't publish one. Since 31 October 2025, every UK casino must prompt you to set a financial limit before your first deposit. Separately, once net deposits pass £150 in 30 days the casino must run a financial vulnerability check. Our deposit limits guide and financial risk checks page explain both.

Why does the minimum deposit change by payment method?

Because processing costs and rules differ between methods, many casinos set separate minimums for each. That's why Coral's and Ladbrokes' help centres quote £5 for Google Pay and Pay by Bank but say the general minimum is shown in the cashier. Voucher methods have fixed amounts too: UK paysafecard values start at £10. Pick your method in the cashier to see its exact floor. Our payments hub and the paysafecard guide compare methods.

Do I need to deposit to play casino games in demo mode?

No deposit is needed for demo play where a casino offers it, but you do need to register and pass age verification first, as UK rules require age checks before free-to-play games. Demo games use play money, so nothing is won or lost. They're useful for learning rules before you deposit. Our page on whether casino games can be played free in demo mode and our demo play guide explain how it works.

Is a low minimum deposit better for responsible play?

A low minimum can help you keep each spend small, but it only works alongside a firm budget. The house edge applies to every pound staked, and re-staking winnings means your total wagered can be several times your deposit. Set a deposit limit when you're prompted, decide in advance when you'll stop, and don't top up to chase losses. Our pages on making a budget last and chasing losses give practical help.

Does the minimum deposit apply to withdrawals too?

No, minimum withdrawals are set separately. The Coral and Ladbrokes help centres state a £5 minimum on Fast Bank Transfer and Google Pay withdrawals, PlayOJO says you can withdraw as little as you want, and Casumo and 10bet don't publish a minimum. Casumo does charge £3 on withdrawals below £10, so small withdrawals cost proportionally more there. Our withdrawal fees page and how long casino withdrawals take cover the cash-out side.
