Why is my casino withdrawal pending?
Why is my casino withdrawal pending? Because the casino hasn't finished its own checks yet. "Pending" means your request is in the operator's review queue and no money has left the casino. Most reviews clear within hours, but verification gaps, payment method rules, unfinished bonus wagering or weekends can hold a withdrawal at this stage.
Key takeaways
- Pending means the casino is still reviewing the request; the money hasn't been sent to your bank or wallet yet.
- The usual causes are identity or source-of-funds checks, payment method rules, bonus terms and banking days.
- UK rules ban reverse withdrawals, so you can't cancel a pending request and play the money back.
- If a withdrawal stays pending without explanation, complain to the casino first, then use independent dispute resolution.
- What pending means
- Awaiting the casino's internal approval
- Can you cancel it?
- No: reverse withdrawals banned since 31 October 2021
- Casumo approval policy
- Approved or denied within 3 days
- Coral and Ladbrokes
- Review team approval, often a couple of hours for Visa Fast Funds
- Complaint deadline for the casino
- 8 weeks, then ADR
What a pending casino withdrawal actually means
Every withdrawal goes through two stages. First, the casino reviews and approves the request. Second, the approved payment travels through your bank, card network or e-wallet. "Pending" describes the first stage only. Until the status changes to approved, processed or paid, the money is still with the casino, and your bank can't see it.
That distinction matters when you're trying to work out where the hold-up is. A pending status points to the operator. A withdrawal marked as paid that hasn't reached you points to the payment route, which is covered on our page on how long casino withdrawals take. For more questions like this, see our casino questions hub.
Coral's and Ladbrokes' help centres say their published payment timeframes are additional to the internal processing time, which is exactly the pending stage.
Why your casino withdrawal is pending: the common causes
| Cause | What's happening | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Normal review queue | Staff or systems approve each payout | Wait for the casino's published review time |
| Verification gap | Your account details or documents don't fully match | Check messages and upload what's asked |
| Source-of-funds check | Anti-money-laundering questions after larger deposits | Provide bank statements if requested |
| Payment method rules | Money must usually go back to the deposit method | Withdraw to the method you deposited with |
| Active bonus | Bonus funds stay locked until wagering is complete | Check whether you're withdrawing cash or bonus balance |
| Weekend or bank holiday | Banking days pause some payment routes | Allow for the next working day |
| Large amount | Bigger payouts can take longer on some routes | Check the method's limits in the help centre |
Verification and money checks
Casinos must confirm your identity before you play, so a full ID check at withdrawal should be rare. But a withdrawal can still trigger questions about where your money came from, as part of anti-money-laundering duties. Our page on verification for withdrawals explains the difference, and do I need ID to play at an online casino? covers the up-front checks.
Payment method and closed-loop rules
Coral and Ladbrokes operate a closed-loop policy, meaning payouts return to the method you used to deposit. Their help centres add method-specific conditions: a PayPal withdrawal needs a PayPal deposit in the last six months, a paysafecard withdrawal needs an earlier paysafecard deposit, and Google Pay withdrawals are paid to the underlying card. PlayOJO says withdrawals go back to the deposit method where possible. Asking for a different route is a common reason a request sits in review.
Bonus balances
If a bonus is active, the bonus money and its winnings stay locked until the wagering requirement is met. Your own deposit balance is different: the Gambling Commission's guidance says players must be able to withdraw their deposit balance at any time, even with a bonus running. Our page on bonuses and withdrawals explains how the two balances work.
How long withdrawals stay pending at our partner casinos
There's no regulatory maximum for the review stage, so each casino sets and publishes its own. Here's what our partners say.
| Casino | What the casino publishes about review time |
|---|---|
| Casumo | Withdrawals reviewed and processed "within a matter of hours"; policy says approved or denied within 3 days |
| Coral | Approved by a review team first; for Visa Fast Funds approval typically takes a couple of hours |
| Ladbrokes | Same process as Coral: review team approval, typically a couple of hours for Visa Fast Funds |
| PlayOJO | Processes the majority of payments within a few hours |
| 10bet | No separate review time published; says it aims to process withdrawals as quickly as possible |
Once approved, the payment route adds its own time, from near-instant for some e-wallets to several banking days for bank transfers. Our withdrawal times guide and the brand pages for Casumo withdrawals, 10bet withdrawals and Coral withdrawals list those figures.
Why you can't cancel a pending withdrawal in the UK
Older casino sites often let players cancel a pending withdrawal and send the money back to their balance. Since 31 October 2021, that's been banned for every operator licensed in Great Britain. The Gambling Commission's reverse withdrawal ban (opens in a new tab) says customers must not be given the option to cancel a withdrawal request, and the guidance adds that operators shouldn't offer you the chance to deposit those funds once you've asked to withdraw.
The rule exists because a pending period used to be a window of temptation: money you had decided to take home sat one click away from the reels. Now a withdrawal is a one-way decision. If you notice an urge to cancel while you wait, that's a useful signal; our page on chasing losses covers what to do about it.
Your rights while a withdrawal is pending
The Commission's consumer page on what to do if you can't withdraw your winnings (opens in a new tab) sets out the basics. You can withdraw at any time without unreasonable delay or restriction. You don't have to accept payment in instalments. A business can't confiscate your money because you didn't log in or verify your ID within a time limit, and it can't make proof of age or identity a condition of withdrawal if it could have asked earlier.
- Withdrawal caps on your deposit balance aren't allowed; the Commission's example of a banned term is "up to £50 per day and up to £500 per week".
- Any withdrawal fee must be disclosed before you deposit and can't exceed the direct cost of processing.
- Where a win or withdrawal is refused, the operator should explain why.
In 2025 the Commission fined Taichi Tech (Fafabet) £170,000, partly over a term that let it close accounts or forfeit winnings at its discretion. Our complaints and ADR page explains the wider rules.
What to do if your casino withdrawal is stuck on pending
- Check the casino's published review time and wait until it has passed, counting only working days for bank routes.
- Read your account inbox and email for requests for documents or information.
- Confirm you're withdrawing to the same method you deposited with.
- Check whether any part of the balance is bonus money still under wagering.
- Contact customer support by chat or email and ask for the reason and an expected date.
- If there's no fair answer, make a formal complaint under the casino's complaints procedure.
- If it's unresolved after 8 weeks, ask for referral to the casino's ADR provider, which is free.
Pending withdrawal myths
- "They're stalling so I'll gamble it back." Licensed operators can't let you reverse a withdrawal, which removes that option.
- "A pending withdrawal means I've been flagged." Usually it just means the review queue hasn't reached your request.
- "Winners get held up on purpose." Review times apply to every request; the Commission prohibits unreasonable delay, and our page on whether casinos know when you're winning covers the wider worry.
- "Splitting a withdrawal speeds it up." Each request is reviewed, so several small ones can mean several reviews, and Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals below £10.
Partner offers and withdrawing winnings
Bonus terms are one of the most common reasons part of a balance can't be withdrawn yet, so read them before opting in. All offers are 18+ and terms apply. Casumo's 50% bonus up to £100 needs a first deposit of at least £20 and an opt-in; the bonus must be wagered 10x within 7 days, the maximum bet is £5 while it's active, and game, play and payment restrictions apply.
10bet's 100% match up to £25 is for new UK customers who select the casino welcome bonus at sign-up and deposit within 7 days; the bonus is wagered 10x on slots within 3 days, bonus winnings are capped at £1,000, and Skrill and Neteller deposits don't qualify. Coral gives new players 100 free spins at 10p each on selected games when they deposit and bet £10 on slots, from 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027; spins must be accepted within 48 hours and used within 7 days, winnings carry no wagering, and Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and certain debit cards are excluded. Table and live games are often excluded or count for less towards wagering.

Frequently asked questions
How long should a casino withdrawal be pending?
It depends on the casino, because UK rules set no maximum review time. Among our partners, PlayOJO says it processes most payments within a few hours, Coral and Ladbrokes say Visa Fast Funds approval typically takes a couple of hours, and Casumo's policy says requests are approved or denied within 3 days. 10bet doesn't publish a separate figure. After approval, the payment method adds its own time. See our withdrawal times guide and how long casino withdrawals take.
Can I cancel a pending casino withdrawal?
No, UK-licensed casinos can't let you cancel a pending withdrawal. The Gambling Commission banned reverse withdrawals for all remote operators from 31 October 2021, and its guidance says casinos shouldn't invite you to deposit that money once you've asked for it. The rule protects players from playing back money they had decided to take home. If you feel the urge to reverse a withdrawal, our pages on chasing losses and when to stop may help.
Why does my withdrawal say pending when my bank shows nothing?
Pending means the casino hasn't released the money yet, so your bank has nothing to show. Only once the casino approves and processes the request does the payment start moving through your card network, bank or e-wallet. If the status has changed to paid or processed and nothing has arrived, the delay sits with the payment route instead, which can take from hours to several banking days. Our pending withdrawals page and fast withdrawals guide explain the stages.
Does an active bonus stop me from withdrawing?
An active bonus locks the bonus money and its winnings until you complete the wagering, but it shouldn't lock your own deposit balance. Gambling Commission guidance says players must be able to withdraw their deposit balance at any time, even while a bonus is pending or active, without meeting wagering first. Withdrawing may cancel the bonus, so check the terms. Our guides to bonuses and withdrawals and withdrawing without using a bonus explain the details.
Why is the casino asking for documents now?
A request at withdrawal is usually a money check rather than an identity check. Casinos must confirm who you are before you play, but they may ask for bank statements to check your source of funds under anti-money-laundering rules, especially after larger deposits. What they can't do is demand ID they could reasonably have asked for earlier, unless the law requires it at that point. Respond through the casino's secure upload tool. See verification for withdrawals and our account verification guide.
Do casino withdrawals process at weekends?
Review times vary by casino, and bank-based payment routes generally move on banking days. Coral and Ladbrokes, for example, describe payment times in banking or business days, so a request approved late on a Friday may not reach a bank account until the following week. E-wallet payouts can be quicker once approved, as Casumo says PayPal, Skrill and Neteller payouts are instant after approval. Check the method's help page. Our withdrawal times guide and e-wallets page compare routes.
What can I do if my withdrawal has been pending for weeks?
Make a formal complaint to the casino, and if it isn't resolved within 8 weeks, take it to the casino's alternative dispute resolution provider, which is free. Before that, check your messages for document requests and confirm you're using your deposit method. The Commission says you can withdraw without unreasonable delay and that money can't be confiscated over missed verification deadlines. It doesn't resolve individual complaints itself. Our casino complaints guide and complaints and ADR rules explain the process.
Are withdrawal fees the reason my payout is smaller?
Possibly, if the casino charges one. Coral and Ladbrokes say they don't charge withdrawal fees, Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals below £10 and nothing at £10 or more, and 10bet doesn't publish a fee. Commission guidance says fees must be disclosed before you deposit and can't exceed the direct processing cost. Your bank or e-wallet may apply its own charges, such as currency conversion. Our withdrawal fees page and payments hub list what's known.
