No commission baccarat explained

No commission baccarat pays winning Banker bets at even money instead of 19 to 20, except when Banker wins with a total of 6, which pays only half the stake. That one rule replaces the usual 5% charge, and it lifts the Banker house edge from 1.06% to about 1.46% with eight decks, while Player and Tie stay the same.

Key takeaways

  • Banker wins pay 1 to 1, except a winning Banker 6, which pays 1 to 2.
  • The Banker edge is 1.46% with eight decks (1.45% with six), against 1.06% with commission.
  • Player (1.24%) becomes the cheapest main bet at these tables.
  • Evolution's version adds a Super 6 side bet paying 15 to 1.
  • EZ Baccarat is a different commission-free rule with a 1.02% Banker edge.

No commission baccarat rules

The deal, card values and drawing rules are identical to standard punto banco. Two hands, Player and Banker, get two cards each, naturals of 8 or 9 stop the deal, and the third card rule decides any extra cards. The only thing that changes is how a winning Banker bet is paid.

Evolution's No Commission Baccarat page (opens in a new tab) describes exactly this: a Banker win on 6 pays 0.5 to 1. Wizard of Odds calls this rule 'Nepal' or 'Super 6' and describes it as the most common commission-free version.

Worked payouts at a no commission baccarat table

Here is how a £10 Banker bet is settled in each case, compared with the same bet at a commission table.

£10 Banker bet: what you get back
Round resultCommission tableNo commission table
Banker wins 7 to 5£19.50£20.00
Banker wins with a natural 9£19.50£20.00
Banker wins 6 to 4£19.50£15.00
Banker wins 6 to 5 after three cards£19.50£15.00
Tie£10.00£10.00
Player wins£0£0

On most Banker wins you are 50p better off. On a Banker 6 win you are £4.50 worse off. Because Banker 6 wins are much rarer than other Banker wins, it can feel as though the no-commission table is cheaper, but the numbers say otherwise.

No commission baccarat house edge

Wizard of Odds' analysis of commission-free baccarat (opens in a new tab) puts the Banker edge under the Banker-6 rule at 1.46% with eight decks and 1.45% with six. Player and Tie edges are exactly as in regular baccarat.

How often Banker wins with a 6

We can work backwards from those figures. Paid at even money on every win, Banker would return +1.235% (45.8597% wins minus 44.6247% losses). Halving the payout on Banker 6 wins costs half a unit each time, so 0.01235 − 0.5 × (share of Banker 6 wins) = −0.0146. That gives a Banker 6 win in roughly 5.4% of hands, about one round in 18 or 19.

So on roughly one Banker win in eight or nine, you get half pay. That is where the house gets its margin back, and a little more. For the wider picture, see our baccarat house edge page.

Why Player is the best bet at no commission tables

At a standard table, the usual advice is that Banker is the cheapest bet. At a no-commission table, that flips. Player stays at 1.24%, while Banker climbs to 1.46%, so the player bet is 0.22 points cheaper.

If you are a Banker bettor by habit, a commission table is the cheaper place to play; our banker bet page covers that game. If you prefer no-commission tables for their round-number payouts, consider switching to Player.

The Super 6 side bet

Evolution's No Commission Baccarat adds a Super 6 side bet that pays 15 to 1 when Banker wins with a 6. Evolution's game page does not publish a house edge for it, and nor do our other checked sources.

As a rough guide only, using the estimated 5.4% Banker-6 rate from the section above, a 15 to 1 payout returns 16 × 0.054 = 0.864 per unit staked on average, which suggests an edge somewhere around 14%. Treat that as an estimate, not a published figure, and check the game's help screen for its stated RTP. Like most side bets, it costs far more than the main wagers.

EZ Baccarat: the other no commission rule

EZ Baccarat is also commission-free, but it uses a different exception. All Banker wins pay even money except a Banker win with a three-card total of 7, which is a push. Wizard of Odds' EZ Baccarat page (opens in a new tab) gives a Banker edge of 1.02% with eight decks, lower than both the standard game and the Banker-6 version.

EZ Baccarat's two best-known side bets are Dragon 7, paying 40 to 1 on a three-card Banker 7 win (house edge 7.61%), and Panda 8, paying 25 to 1 on a three-card Player 8 win (10.19%). The two sets of figures agree: working back from either the 1.02% Banker edge or the Dragon 7 figures puts a three-card Banker 7 win at about 2.25% of hands.

Advantages

  • Banker-6 rule: simple even-money payouts on most wins
  • EZ rule: lowest Banker edge of the three at 1.02%
  • Player and Tie keep their standard edges under the Banker-6 rule

Drawbacks

  • Banker-6 rule raises the Banker edge to about 1.46%
  • Half pay on a winning Banker 6 can feel harsh
  • Super 6, Dragon 7 and Panda 8 side bets carry much higher edges

How to play no commission baccarat

  1. Open the table's help screen and confirm which rule applies: Banker 6 pays half, or three-card Banker 7 pushes.
  2. Set a budget and a flat stake for the session before betting.
  3. Place your chip on Player, Banker or Tie, and add any side bet only if you accept its higher cost.
  4. Watch the deal; third cards follow the standard drawing rules automatically.
  5. If Banker wins with 6 on a Banker-6 table, expect half your stake as profit; other Banker wins pay even money.
  6. Keep an eye on the net spend display and stop at your planned limit.

Who no commission baccarat suits

It suits people who like clean, whole-number payouts and mostly back Player, since they lose nothing compared with a standard table. It suits Banker bettors less well, because they pay about 0.4% more of their turnover. At £10 a hand and 75 rounds an hour, that is about £3 an hour extra on average.

If speed matters to you, remember that faster tables multiply the cost of any edge. Our Speed Baccarat and baccarat strategy pages explain how pace, stake and edge combine, and cost per hour gives the formula.

Myths about commission-free baccarat

'No commission means a better deal.' Only for Player bettors, who see no change. For Banker, the house edge goes up. The casino has not given anything away; it has moved the charge to a different place.

'Avoid Banker when the shoe is producing 6s.' Previous results do not shape the next hand. Read about the gambler's fallacy.

'Bet Super 6 after a long gap without one.' The same logic applies. A long run without a Banker 6 does not make the next one more likely; see independent events.

Playing no commission baccarat online in the UK

Commission-free tables are common in live baccarat lobbies. British rules apply in full: since 17 January 2025 there is no autoplay on online casino games, non-slot games need at least 5 seconds per game cycle and you cannot play several games at once. The slot stake caps do not apply to baccarat, so set your own limits.

Age and identity checks happen before you can deposit, and credit cards cannot be used. If you would like a break from gambling, GAMSTOP (opens in a new tab) blocks you from all UK-licensed gambling websites and apps for a period you choose; our time-outs page covers shorter breaks.

Frequently asked questions

How does no commission baccarat work?

It pays winning Banker bets at even money instead of taking 5%, but a Banker win with a total of 6 pays only half the stake. Everything else, including the deal and drawing rules, matches standard punto banco. Player and Tie pay as normal. Our how to play baccarat guide covers the basic deal.

Is no commission baccarat better than regular baccarat?

For Banker bettors, no: the Banker edge rises from 1.06% to about 1.46% with eight decks. For Player bettors it makes no difference, as the 1.24% edge is unchanged. The payouts are simpler, which some people prefer. Compare the figures on our baccarat commission page.

What does a banker 6 pay in no commission baccarat?

It pays 1 to 2, which is half your stake as profit. A £10 Banker bet that wins with a total of 6 returns £15: your stake plus £5. Other Banker wins return £20. Banker wins with 6 happen in roughly 5.4% of hands. See our banker bet page for standard payouts.

What is the house edge on no commission baccarat?

The Banker edge is 1.46% with eight decks and 1.45% with six under the common Banker-6 rule. Player stays at 1.24%, and the Tie stays at 14.36% at 8 to 1 or 4.844% at 9 to 1. EZ Baccarat, a different rule, gives Banker 1.02%. Our baccarat house edge page compares every version.

Should I bet banker or player at a no commission table?

Player is the cheaper bet at a Banker-6 no-commission table: 1.24% against 1.46%. On £10 a hand over 100 hands, that is an average cost of about £12.35 on Player against £14.60 on Banker. Neither bet beats the house over time. Our player bet guide explains it further.

What is the Super 6 bet in baccarat?

Super 6 is a side bet that wins when Banker wins with a total of 6. In Evolution's No Commission Baccarat it pays 15 to 1. Its house edge is not published on the game page, so check the help screen; working back from published figures suggests it is far higher than the main bets. Our baccarat side bets page covers the others.

Is EZ Baccarat the same as no commission baccarat?

Both are commission-free, but the rules differ. EZ Baccarat pushes a Banker win with a three-card 7, giving Banker a 1.02% edge, while the common no-commission rule halves a Banker 6 payout for a 1.46% edge. Our EZ Baccarat against punto banco comparison sets out the differences.

Can I play no commission baccarat live in the UK?

Yes. Evolution, for example, runs a live No Commission Baccarat table, and UK-licensed casinos may carry it or similar games in their live lobbies; check the casino's game lobby for what is available. British rules on game speed and autoplay apply. Our live baccarat guide explains how streamed tables work.
