Genie Jackpots slot overview

Genie Jackpots is a classic-format slot: fifteen positions, twenty lines and a medium volatility rating that sits between the steady and the swingy. What sets it apart is the jackpot. Instead of a fixed maximum win, it is linked to Jackpot King, the progressive network run by Blueprint Gaming, the Newark-based studio founded in 2001 and owned by Merkur Group.

The base game’s symbol values and the exact jackpot set-up at a given casino are described in the game’s help screen, while its own features are explained in the next section. For all our reviews, see the slots hub, and for other games with linked prizes, our jackpot slots guide.

How the features work in Genie Jackpots

Beneath its jackpot link, Genie Jackpots has a base game with features of its own: Monkey wilds, a random Wish feature and two bonus rounds.

Monkey wilds substitute for other symbols in the base game, helping to complete line wins across the 20 paylines.

The Wish feature

The Wish feature can start at random. When it does, you pick a lamp, and the lamp reveals one of four results:

  • a bonus trigger, which takes you into a bonus round;
  • a respin with an extra Genie wild added to the reels;
  • a wild that comes with doubled payouts;
  • an infectious Monkey wild, which can spread wilds to other positions.

Magic Carpet Bonus and Mystery Win Bonus

The two bonus rounds need two bonus symbols plus either a Magic Carpet symbol or a Treasure Chest symbol. Depending on that combination, you go into the Magic Carpet Bonus or the Mystery Win Bonus. What each round can pay is set out in the game’s paytable, not in our checked data.

The game is also part of the Jackpot King network, whose progressive jackpot feature can be triggered at random; the next section explains how that network’s bonus runs. Slotcatalog’s Genie Jackpots entry (opens in a new tab) lists the same features. On a UK site none of these rounds can be bought.

How Jackpot King works on Genie Jackpots

Jackpot King links a wide range of Blueprint titles to one shared pool, so spins on any linked game feed the same prizes. According to OLBG’s guide to Jackpot King slots (opens in a new tab), the process runs like this:

  1. Land five or six Jackpot King symbols during a spin to start the Jackpot King bonus.
  2. In the bonus, collect crown symbols.
  3. Reach 15 or more crowns to go through to the Wheel King.
  4. The Wheel King awards either a win multiplier or one of three progressive jackpots.

OLBG lists the three pots with these starting values. Separately, Blueprint’s Jackpot King Deluxe launch in September 2018 (opens in a new tab) made the two smaller pots ‘must be won’ before they reach a set level, leaving the main pot unchanged.

Jackpot King pots
PotStarting value (OLBG)Upper limit
Royal£500Must be won before £3,500 (Deluxe)
Regal£5,000Must be won before £35,000 (Deluxe)
Jackpot King£50,000No cap

Whether a casino runs the original network or the Deluxe version, and the live size of each pot, is shown in the game. OLBG names Genie Jackpots among the first Jackpot King titles, alongside Cop the Lot and Fruitinator, dated September 2016; the game itself first appeared in December 2015, so the jackpot link came after its original release.

Genie Jackpots RTP: 96.49% against 92.73%

Two RTP settings are recorded for this game. The headline 96.49% means a house edge of 3.51%; the 92.73% version, offered by at least one operator, means 7.27%. That more than doubles what each spin costs on average.

Average cost at each Genie Jackpots RTP

20p70p£1.4575p
50p£1.76£3.64£1.88
£1£3.51£7.27£3.76

Jackpot games add one more question: is the jackpot contribution included in the stated RTP? On some networks the base-game figure excludes it; Mega Moolah’s published base RTP of 88.12%, for instance, leaves out the jackpot share. The game’s rules should say how Genie Jackpots’ figure is made up, and our RTP explainer shows how to read it.

The maths of chasing a progressive jackpot

A progressive jackpot is paid for by a small slice of every stake across the network. That slice is part of the RTP, which means less of the return is available for ordinary wins. It also means the big prize is spread across a huge number of spins from many players, so the chance of it landing on any one spin is tiny.

  • The pot growing doesn’t make it more likely to drop on your next spin, except where a must-win limit forces a smaller pot to pay before a set level.
  • A must-win pot near its limit is more likely to pay soon across the whole network, not necessarily to you.
  • Expected loss per spin is still stake × house edge, whatever the jackpot shows.
  • Treat any jackpot as a remote extra, never as the reason to play or raise stakes.

Our progressive jackpot maths page works through the numbers, and the progressive jackpots feature guide compares the main networks.

Medium volatility and a £20 Genie Jackpots budget

Medium volatility means smaller, more frequent returns than a high-volatility game, so a budget tends to last a little more evenly, though nothing is predictable. At 96.49%, £20 spent once through costs 70p on average at any stake.

£20 at 96.49% RTP
StakeSpins from £20Average costCost per line per spin
10p20070p0.5p
50p4070p2.5p
£12070p5p

At the 92.73% setting, the same £20 costs £1.45 on average. Because your stake is spread across 20 lines, each line on a 10p spin is half a penny, which is one reason small line wins can still be smaller than the total stake. UK rules stop the game celebrating those as wins. For more on session length, see how long £20 lasts on a slot.

Twenty paylines on the Genie Jackpots reels

Genie Jackpots uses 20 paylines across its 5x3 grid. A line win needs matching symbols along one of those paths from the left. Twenty lines on fifteen positions means paths overlap heavily, so one symbol can count towards several lines at once. The paytable shows each path and the symbol values.

This is a similar set-up to other Blueprint titles such as King Kong Cash and The Goonies, both 5x3 with 20 lines, and to Barcrest’s Rainbow Riches.

UK rules on the Genie Jackpots slot

The Gambling Commission’s stake limit guidance for online slots (opens in a new tab) caps stakes at £5 for players aged 25 and over and £2 for 18 to 24-year-olds. A jackpot game is still a slot, so the limits apply in full. See our slot stake limits page.

  • No autoplay; each spin is started by you.
  • Minimum 2.5 seconds per spin, with no turbo or slam stop.
  • No celebrating returns equal to or below your stake.
  • Net position and time played on screen.
  • Feature buy-ins aren’t offered to British players, following a Commission warning in January 2020.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTP of Genie Jackpots?

The headline RTP is 96.49%, a house edge of 3.51%, but a 92.73% version is offered by at least one operator, where the edge is 7.27%. On £1 spins that is 3.5p against 7.3p on average. Check the game rules at your casino, and see whether the figure includes the jackpot contribution. Our slot RTP guide explains what to look for.

Is Genie Jackpots a progressive jackpot slot?

Yes. Its top prizes come from Blueprint’s Jackpot King network, which links many Blueprint games to a shared pool. OLBG describes three pots, Royal, Regal and the main Jackpot King, reached through a crown-collecting bonus and the Wheel King. The live pot sizes are shown in the game. Our progressive jackpots guide compares the main networks.

How do you win the Jackpot King on Genie Jackpots?

According to OLBG, five or six Jackpot King symbols trigger a bonus where you collect crowns; 15 or more crowns take you to the Wheel King, which awards a win multiplier or one of three progressive jackpots. There is no way to make that more likely: every spin is random. Our progressive jackpot maths page explains how unlikely the top pot is.

When was Genie Jackpots released?

Our checked data dates the game’s first release to December 2015. OLBG lists Genie Jackpots among the first Jackpot King titles, with Cop the Lot and Fruitinator, dated September 2016, which suggests the jackpot link was added after the original launch. Blueprint added Jackpot King Deluxe in 2018. Our Blueprint Gaming page has more on the studio’s history.

Is Genie Jackpots high or medium volatility?

Genie Jackpots is rated medium volatility, which means smaller and more frequent returns than high-volatility games, though results still vary a lot from session to session. The jackpot adds a very remote chance of a large prize on top. If you want calmer play still, see our low volatility slots list.

How many paylines does Genie Jackpots have?

It has 20 paylines on a grid of 5 reels and 3 rows. Wins pay for matching symbols along a line from the left, and with twenty paths over fifteen positions, one symbol can count on several lines. Your stake is split across all the lines. Our paylines explainer shows how line games compare with ways and cluster systems.

Does a big Jackpot King pot mean it is due to pay?

No. A growing pot reflects how much has been staked across the network, not your chance on the next spin. The exception is a must-win pot near its limit, which must pay somewhere on the network before that level, but not necessarily to you. Expected loss per spin stays the same. Our gambler’s fallacy page explains the thinking trap.

What is the maximum stake on Genie Jackpots in the UK?

The maximum is £5 a spin if you are 25 or over and £2 if you are 18 to 24, the same limits as every online slot in Britain. They took effect on 9 April 2025 and 21 May 2025. Jackpot games aren’t exempt. Our page on the maximum stake on a UK slot gives the full rules.
