Live casino bonus UK guide
A live casino bonus UK players can clear at dealer tables is harder to find than a slots offer, because most welcome bonuses exclude live games or count them for less. Here is why, what wagering costs across live blackjack, roulette, baccarat and game shows in pounds, and how UK live casino rules affect bonus play.
Key takeaways
- Many UK bonuses exclude live dealer games or give them a reduced contribution towards wagering.
- Live games range from about a 0.45% edge (Infinite Blackjack) to over 8% on some game show bets, so the cost of wagering varies hugely.
- Autoplay is banned on live games, but a re-bet button is allowed; slot stake limits don’t apply.
- Fees in Lightning games and high-edge side bets can make bonus wagering far more expensive.
- Our partner offers are slot-led; check each casino’s live casino terms before opting in.
- Lowest-edge live game listed
- Infinite Blackjack, 0.45%
- Live baccarat Banker bet
- 1.06% (8 decks)
- Crazy Time RTP
- 94.41%–96.08% by bet
- Autoplay on live games
- Banned since 17 January 2025
- Minimum game cycle
- 5 seconds (non-slot games)
Live casino bonus UK: what to expect
If you play at dealer tables, expect most UK welcome offers to be of limited use. Bonus terms commonly leave live casino games out of the eligible list, or let them count towards wagering at a fraction of each stake. Some casinos run separate promotions on particular live tables, but these are individual campaigns with their own terms, not a standard feature of welcome offers.
The good news is that the maths for judging any offer is the same as for every other bonus: work out how much you would need to stake, multiply by the house edge of the game you would play, and compare that expected loss with the value of the bonus. Live casino makes this more interesting than usual, because the games under one roof have very different edges. The rest of our bonus guides sit on the casino bonuses hub.
Why live casino bonuses are harder to find
Two reasons stand out. First, live dealer games cost operators much more to host than software games: studios, dealers, cameras and staff run around the clock. Evolution describes its live casino studios (opens in a new tab) as built like TV or film sets with multi-camera video, lighting and audio, broadcasting in real time and often 24 hours a day. A casino paying for that content has less room to give it away through bonuses.
Second, several of the most popular live games have low house edges. Live blackjack under good rules and the Banker bet in live baccarat both cost the player around 1% or less per pound staked. A bonus cleared on those games would cost the casino much more than the same bonus cleared on a slot with a 3% to 4% edge, so terms tend to exclude or down-weight them.
You can read more about how the studios work on our how live casino works page, and how live play differs from software on live vs RNG.
Live casino games compared: the cost of bonus wagering
The table below assumes £500 of wagering, the amount needed for a £50 bonus at the 10x maximum, with every stake counting in full. That is a best case; reduced contribution would multiply the stakes and the cost.
| Live game and bet | House edge | Expected loss on £500 | Source of figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Infinite Blackjack (basic strategy) | 0.45% | £2.25 | Standard game maths (Wizard of Odds) |
| Baccarat, Banker bet | 1.06% | £5.30 | Standard game maths |
| Baccarat, Player bet | 1.24% | £6.20 | Standard game maths |
| European roulette, any standard bet | 2.70% | £13.50 | Standard game maths |
| Deal or No Deal Live | 4.58% | £22.90 | Help-file return of 95.42% |
| Crazy Time, depending on bet | 3.92%–5.59% | £19.60–£27.95 | Developer RTP range |
| MONOPOLY Live, depending on bet | 3.77%–8.70% | £18.85–£43.50 | Developer figures quoted by Wizard of Odds |
The spread is huge. The same £500 of wagering costs about £2 on Infinite Blackjack played by the book and over £40 on the worst MONOPOLY Live bet. Even inside one game, bet choice matters: on MONOPOLY Live the bet on 2 returns 96.23% and the bet on 5 returns 91.30%. Our game show RTP page lists the figures for each show.
Edges are long-run averages. A live session can end anywhere, and the house edge means losses are likely over time.
Round speed: how long live bonus wagering takes
Live games run at the studio’s pace, so wagering takes real time. Developer figures give a sense of the range:
| Game | Published round or betting time | Rounds per hour at most (arithmetic) |
|---|---|---|
| Evolution Speed Baccarat | 27 seconds per round | About 133 |
| Evolution standard Baccarat | About 48 seconds per round | About 75 |
| Evolution Speed Roulette | 25-second rounds | About 144 |
| Evolution Auto Roulette | 60–80 games an hour | 60–80 |
| Crazy Time | 15 seconds of betting time, plus the spin | Fewer than 240 |
The per-hour column is simple division and ignores pauses, so real play will be slower. Take £500 of wagering at £5 a hand: that is 100 rounds, or roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes of standard baccarat. Halve the contribution and you double the time. Faster speed games clear stakes quicker but also raise the cost per hour, because expected loss accrues with every round.
Under the Gambling Commission’s rules, casino games other than slots must allow at least 5 seconds per game cycle, which live games already exceed.
Side bets, Bet Behind and Lightning fees under bonus terms
Live tables come with extras that bonus terms often handle separately. Read these lines carefully:
- Lightning fees: Evolution’s Lightning Baccarat adds a 20% Lightning Fee to each total bet, and Lightning Blackjack adds a 100% fee to each initial bet. Wizard of Odds’ Lightning Blackjack analysis (opens in a new tab) estimates a basic-strategy player loses about 17.63% of the original bet per hand, even though Evolution claims 0.44% with an unpublished optimal strategy.
- Side bets: pair bets, 21+3 and similar side bets carry far higher edges than the main game and may be excluded or treated differently.
- Bet Behind: backing another player’s seat at blackjack may not count towards wagering, so check before relying on it.
- Game shows: bonus rounds are part of the stake you placed, but some terms list game shows apart from tables.
Our pages on Lightning games and blackjack side bets explain how each extra changes the maths.
UK rules for live casino play with a bonus
Since 17 January 2025, several online design rules apply to live casino as well as slots. The Gambling Commission said it saw no convincing reason to exclude live games from the autoplay ban.
- No autoplay on any online casino game, live included. A re-bet button is allowed because you still start each round.
- At least 5 seconds per game cycle on casino games other than slots.
- No playing several games at once, which rules out operator features that let you bet on multiple live tables together.
- Net spend and time spent must be shown to you in real time during a session.
- The £5 and £2 online slot stake limits don’t apply to live tables; any stake cap during a bonus is set by the offer.
- Wagering can’t exceed 10x the bonus since 19 January 2026, and a promotion can’t mix casino with betting or bingo.
Our UK live casino rules page goes into each rule. The Commission’s consumer page on free offers and bonuses (opens in a new tab) also says you should be able to walk away at any time, keep what is left of your deposit and winnings from it, and see whether you are playing with your own money or bonus funds.
How to check a live casino bonus before opting in
- Open the full terms and find the eligible-games list; look for a separate line on live casino and on game shows.
- Note the contribution for the live game you would play, and any named exclusions such as Lightning tables or side bets.
- Calculate the stakes you would need: bonus × wagering multiple ÷ contribution.
- Multiply by the edge of your game and bet to get the expected loss.
- Check the maximum bet and time limit, and work out how many rounds and hours the wagering means at your stake.
- Decide whether the bonus is worth more than the expected loss and the time. If not, don’t opt in.
- Set a deposit limit and a session time reminder before you start.
You can also ask the casino’s support team to confirm whether a specific live table counts. Keep a copy of the answer, though the written terms are what apply. Our wagering requirements guide explains the calculation in more depth.
Is a live casino bonus worth it?
Advantages
- If live games count, low-edge tables keep the expected cost of wagering small.
- The 10x cap limits how much play any bonus can demand.
- Your deposit balance stays withdrawable at any time.
Drawbacks
- Many offers exclude live games or count them at a low rate.
- Maximum bet rules can be lower than your usual live stake.
- Live rounds are slow, so wagering takes hours rather than minutes.
- Fees and side bets can quietly push the cost up.
For a regular live player, playing with cash is often simpler and no more expensive. If an offer does include live tables at a decent contribution, choose a low-edge game and stick to your usual stake. Our live casino bonuses page in the live section looks at the same question from the games side.
Live casino bonus myths
- “Live dealers can be beaten with a bonus.” The house edge applies to every round, bonus or not.
- “Tracking past results helps clear wagering.” Each round is independent; the scoreboards shown at tables don’t predict anything.
- “Bigger stakes finish the wagering cheaply.” Expected loss rises with every pound staked, and maximum bet rules apply.
- “Live games are rigged against bonus players.” Licensed live games run under Gambling Commission rules, and the outcome doesn’t depend on which balance you use.

Frequently asked questions
Can you use a bonus on live casino games in the UK?
Sometimes, but many offers exclude live games or count them at a reduced rate. Live dealer games cost more to run and several have low house edges, so casinos limit how bonus funds are used on them. The offer’s eligible-games list will say. Our answer to can I use a bonus on live casino lists the clauses to look for.
Which live casino game is cheapest for bonus wagering?
Of the games with published figures, live blackjack played with basic strategy is usually cheapest, with Evolution’s Infinite Blackjack at about a 0.45% edge in standard game maths. The Banker bet in baccarat, at 1.06%, comes next. That is exactly why many bonuses exclude these games. See our lowest house edge games page for a wider comparison.
Do game shows count towards live casino bonus wagering?
It depends on the terms; some list game shows separately from live tables. If they do count, remember their edges are higher: Crazy Time returns 94.41% to 96.08% by bet, so £500 of wagering carries an expected loss of about £20 to £28. Our game show bonus page covers shows in detail.
Is autoplay allowed on live casino in the UK?
No. Since 17 January 2025, autoplay is banned for all online casino games, including live tables and game shows. A re-bet button is allowed, because you still have to start each round yourself. Games other than slots must also allow at least 5 seconds per game cycle. Our autoplay ban page explains the background.
Is there a maximum bet on live casino with a bonus?
There is no legal stake limit on live tables, because the £5 and £2 caps apply only to online slots. A bonus usually sets its own maximum bet while it is active; Casumo’s welcome offer, for example, caps bets at £5. Breaking that cap can cost you bonus winnings. Read our page on the maximum bet rule before you play.
Why do Lightning games matter for bonus terms?
Because the fee changes the cost of every round. Evolution’s Lightning Baccarat adds a 20% fee to the total bet, and Lightning Blackjack a 100% fee on the initial bet. Wizard of Odds estimates basic-strategy players at Lightning Blackjack lose about 17.63% of the original bet per hand. Our Lightning Blackjack page explains the figures.
Can I withdraw my deposit while a live casino bonus is active?
Yes. Gambling Commission guidance says you must be able to withdraw your deposit balance at any time, even with a bonus pending or active, and wagering can’t apply to your own money. Taking your deposit out may end the bonus, so check the terms first. Our page on bonuses and withdrawals explains how the balances work.
Are live casino cashback offers better than deposit bonuses?
Not automatically; it depends on the terms. A cashback offer returns part of losses and may have its own conditions or wagering, which can’t exceed 10x under UK rules. Compare the expected value of each offer for the games you actually play. Our cashback guide shows how to work it out.
