Live craps UK guide
Live craps for UK players is a real craps table streamed from a studio: you bet on screen and physical dice decide the result. Evolution's Live Craps is the best-known version, with an RNG twin called First Person Craps. The bets and dice odds match land-based craps; UK rules set the pace.
Key takeaways
- Evolution's Live Craps uses two real dice, a come-out roll and a point, streamed from a speakeasy-style studio.
- First Person Craps is the RNG version, with a 'Go Live' button to switch to the live table.
- Line bets cost 1.36% to 1.41%; centre bets up to 16.67%, so bet choice matters more than format.
- UK rules ban autoplay on live games and require at least 5 seconds per game cycle.
- Our data doesn't confirm live craps at any partner casino: check the lobby.

Live craps UK: what you actually get
A live craps game puts a real table, real dice and a presenter on your screen. Your bets go on through an on-screen layout, the dice are thrown in the studio, and the result is read into the game software to settle your chips. Evolution says its live games are broadcast in real time, often around the clock, from studios built like TV sets, with players joining on a phone or computer.
Craps is a rarer sight in UK live lobbies than roulette or blackjack, so availability is the first hurdle. Whether a particular casino offers live craps is something to check in its live lobby, as covered in can you play craps online in the UK? If you're new to the game, the craps hub explains every bet first.
Evolution Live Craps: the main live craps table
On its live craps and dice page (opens in a new tab), Evolution describes Live Craps as an online version of the game set in an underground speakeasy-style studio. You predict the outcome of a roll of two dice, with a Come Out roll followed by a Point roll, the same structure as a casino table. Some bets are settled by a single roll and others can last for several.
Evolution lists several features aimed at making a busy layout easier to follow:
- Updated potential winnings shown before each throw, so you can see what each bet would return.
- Crowd information showing how many other players are backing the same number.
- An interactive tutorial that explains the rules and bets inside the game.
- Easy Mode, which offers only the simpler bets and hides the rest of the layout.
Evolution's page doesn't publish the paytable, RTP or table limits, and those can vary by casino. Check the game's help screen for the exact payouts before you play, particularly on the Field and the one-roll bets.
First Person Craps: the RNG version
Evolution's First Person range (opens in a new tab) includes Craps. It's an RNG game in 3D animation that mirrors the speakeasy live table and includes the same interactive tutorial. Evolution says the dice outcomes in First Person games are decided by a random number generator, and that the games share the studios' rules and paytables.
A 'Go Live' button takes you from the First Person game to the live version of the same table. That makes First Person Craps a lower-pressure place to learn the layout before you join a live table with other players. Our First Person games guide covers the wider range, and Evolution profiles the studio.
Live dealer craps against RNG craps
The odds are the same in every format, because two dice give 36 equally likely combinations whether they're physical or simulated. Gambling Commission standards require simulated dice to match the probabilities of real ones. The differences are practical.
| Feature | Live craps | First Person Craps | Standard RNG craps |
|---|---|---|---|
| What decides the roll | Physical dice in a studio | Random number generator | Random number generator |
| Presentation | Video stream with presenter | 3D animation of the live table | Game graphics |
| Betting window | Set by the live round | Set by the game, within UK minimums | Set by the game, within UK minimums |
| Other players | Shared table and chat | Single-player | Single-player |
| Data use | Higher (video stream) | Lower | Lower |

How a live craps round runs
Each live round follows the same rhythm. Here's what happens from your side of the screen.
- Join the table from the casino's live lobby and let the stream load; check the table limits shown on screen.
- During the betting window, choose a chip and place bets on the layout. On a come-out roll, a Pass Line or Don't Pass bet is the usual starting point.
- Betting closes and the dice are rolled in the studio. The result appears on the layout and settles any bets it decides.
- If a point is set, it's marked on the layout. You can add an odds bet behind your line bet or make other bets in the next window.
- Rounds repeat until the point is made or a 7 appears. Unresolved multi-roll bets stay in place until settled.
- Use the re-bet button if you want the same bets again; each round still needs you to confirm them.
Live betting windows close on time. If you're still choosing when betting closes, your bet won't be taken for that roll.
Live craps odds: the bets and their house edge
Live craps carries standard craps maths. The figures below are per bet resolved from the Wizard of Odds craps house edge table (opens in a new tab); confirm the live game's paytable matches before relying on them.
| Bet | Pays | House edge | Average cost of a £5 bet |
|---|---|---|---|
| Odds behind a line bet | True odds | 0% | Nothing |
| Don't Pass / Don't Come | 1 to 1 | 1.36% | About 7p |
| Pass Line / Come | 1 to 1 | 1.41% | About 7p |
| Place 6 or 8 | 7 to 6 | 1.52% | About 8p |
| Place 5 or 9 | 7 to 5 | 4.00% | 20p |
| Field (2 and 12 at 2 to 1) | 1 to 1, 2 to 1 | 5.56% | About 28p |
| Hard 6 or 8 | 9 to 1 | 9.09% | About 45p |
| Any Seven | 4 to 1 | 16.67% | About 83p |
The gap between the top and bottom of this table is far bigger than any difference between live and RNG play. If you want a live table to last, the odds bet and line bets are where to start, as our craps house edge guide explains.
What a live craps session costs
To estimate the cost of a session, multiply your stake by the house edge and by the number of decisions. Live rounds run at the studio's pace, so count decisions rather than minutes.
| Approach | Stake per decision | House edge | Average cost per 100 decisions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pass Line only | £5 | 1.41% | About £7.05 |
| Don't Pass only | £5 | 1.36% | About £6.80 |
| Pass Line plus place 6 and 8 | £5 + £6 + £6 | 1.41% and 1.52% | About £25.30 |
| Pass Line plus a £1 Any Seven bet alongside it | £5 + £1 | 1.41% and 16.67% | About £23.70 |
Each row assumes every bet is settled 100 times. In the last row, a single £1 chip on Any Seven costs more than twice as much as the £5 line bet itself. For more on this approach, see cost per hour and live casino strategy.
UK rules for live craps
Live craps at a UK-licensed casino falls under the Gambling Commission's rules for online casino games. These change how the game plays, not its odds.
| Rule | In force from | What it means at the table |
|---|---|---|
| No credit cards for gambling | 14 April 2020 | Deposit with a debit card or another eligible method |
| Autoplay banned on all online casino games, live included | 17 January 2025 | Every bet is placed by you; a re-bet button is allowed |
| At least 5 seconds per game cycle for non-slot games (RTS 14G) | 17 January 2025 | Rounds can't be sped up below the minimum |
| No playing several games at once (RTS 14C) | 17 January 2025 | One table at a time |
| Net spend and time played shown in real time | 17 January 2025 | Keep an eye on the display during play |
| Prompt to set a financial limit before the first deposit | 31 October 2025 | Set a deposit limit when you join |
When it banned autoplay, the Commission said it saw no convincing reason to exclude live casino from the rule, and it noted that a re-bet feature isn't autoplay. You can read its reasoning in the autoplay decision (opens in a new tab), and the timing rules in the RTS 14 product design standard (opens in a new tab).
The £5 and £2 stake limits apply to online slots only, so live craps limits are set by each table. Age and identity must be verified before you deposit, and the Commission's rules cover Great Britain, not Northern Ireland. More detail is on our UK rules for live casino, autoplay ban and age verification pages.
Other live dice games in UK lobbies
Evolution's live dice category includes more than craps. If a casino has no craps table, these share the dice theme but use different rules and maths:
- Lightning Dice: three dice drop through a tower; bets on totals 3 to 18 with random multipliers of up to 1,000x.
- Super Sic Bo: a three-dice sic bo game with random multipliers of up to 1,000x on chosen bet spots.
- Football Studio Dice: two dice for each of HOME and AWAY, with the higher total winning.
- Bac Bo: two dice for Player and two for Banker, with the higher total winning, in the style of baccarat.
None of these is a direct substitute for craps on cost, because their paytables differ. Our dice games hub compares them.
Live craps mistakes to avoid
- Chasing the action. The live layout makes it easy to cover lots of bets each roll. Each extra centre bet adds 9% to 17% on its stake.
- Skipping the help screen. Payouts on the Field and one-roll bets can vary; check before betting.
- Betting on streaks. A hot shooter in the studio doesn't change the next roll; see the gambler's fallacy.
- Ignoring the time display. Live rounds roll on continuously. Use the net spend and time shown, and set deposit limits before you start.
- Raising bets to recover losses. That increases the amount at risk without changing any edge.

Frequently asked questions
Can you play live craps in the UK?
Yes, if a UK-licensed casino offers it. There's no rule against live craps, and Evolution produces a Live Craps table, but many UK casinos don't list craps at all, so check the live lobby before signing up. Our data doesn't confirm live craps at any of our partner casinos. The can you play craps online in the UK? page covers the wider picture, and the live casino hub lists studios.
Who makes live craps?
Evolution is the main maker, with a Live Craps table set in a speakeasy-style studio and an RNG version called First Person Craps. Evolution's page describes two dice, a Come Out roll and a Point roll, an interactive tutorial and an Easy Mode with simpler bets. Other studios may offer craps too; check the casino's lobby. Our Evolution profile covers the studio's wider range of games.
Is live craps rigged?
At a UK-licensed casino, live craps uses real dice and is overseen under Gambling Commission rules, so there's no reason to think results are fixed. That doesn't mean it's even: every bet except the odds bet carries a house edge, so the casino comes out ahead over time. Stick to licensed sites; unlicensed ones offer no UK protection. See are live casino games rigged? and how to check a licence.
What is the house edge in live craps?
Live craps uses standard craps maths, so the edge depends on the bet: 1.36% on Don't Pass, 1.41% on the Pass Line, 1.52% on place 6 or 8 and up to 16.67% on Any Seven. The odds bet has no edge. Payouts can vary between games, so check the help screen to confirm. Our craps house edge page ranks every bet and shows the cost in pounds.
What is First Person Craps?
First Person Craps is Evolution's RNG version of its live craps game. It uses 3D animation that mirrors the live speakeasy table, includes the same tutorial, and has dice results decided by a random number generator. A 'Go Live' button moves you to the live table. It's a handy way to learn the layout at your own pace. Read more in our First Person games guide.
Is there autoplay on live craps?
No. Since 17 January 2025 the Gambling Commission has banned autoplay on all online casino games, and it specifically chose not to exclude live casino. You must place each bet yourself. A re-bet button that repeats your last bets is allowed, because you still confirm each round. Our autoplay ban page explains the rule, and UK rules for live casino covers related limits.
Do UK stake limits apply to live craps?
No. The £5 per spin limit for players 25 and over, and £2 for those aged 18 to 24, applies only to online slots. Live craps has whatever minimum and maximum the table sets, which you'll see on screen. That makes your own budget more important, so set a deposit limit when you join. Our live casino table limits page and slot stake limits guide explain the difference.
Can I play live craps on my phone?
Usually, yes. Evolution says players join its live games by phone or computer and use the game software to bet and chat. The layout can be cramped on a small screen, which is where a simplified mode helps, and a video stream uses more data than an RNG game. Use Wi-Fi where you can. Our live casino on mobile page covers the practical side, from data use to screen size.
