Push Gaming slots

Push Gaming slots are high-volatility games from a London-based studio founded in 2010, best known for Jammin’ Jars, Razor Shark and Big Bamboo. Default RTPs in our checked data run from 96.13% to 96.83%, but several titles also come in versions around 94%, and that gap costs more than most players realise.

Key takeaways

  • Push Gaming was founded in 2010, is based in London and holds Gambling Commission account 054984 through Push Gaming Holding Limited.
  • LeoVegas Group announced a majority stake in May 2023, which places the studio inside MGM Resorts.
  • Jammin’ Jars has the highest default RTP in our data at 96.83%; Big Bamboo the lowest at 96.13%.
  • Several games have a second version about 2 percentage points lower, which adds roughly £2 of average cost per £100 staked.
  • Big Bamboo and Jammin’ Jars 2 are capped at 50,000× the stake, among the highest ceilings we track.

Push Gaming: a British slot studio

Push Gaming was founded in 2010, with James Marshall among its co-founders. It gives London as its headquarters and also runs an office in Ta’ Xbiex, Malta. Many studios on our providers hub are based in Malta, Sweden or Gibraltar, so a London head office makes Push Gaming one of the British-rooted names.

Ownership changed in 2023, when LeoVegas Group announced it had taken a majority stake. LeoVegas is itself part of MGM Resorts, so Push Gaming now sits inside one of the biggest casino groups in the world. A change of owner doesn’t change the maths of existing games, which are fixed and independently tested before release; our page on how casino games are tested explains that process.

Push Gaming licences and how to check them

In Great Britain the studio is licensed through Push Gaming Holding Limited, Gambling Commission account 054984. It also holds a Malta Gaming Authority B2B licence (MGA/B2B/779/2020) and approvals in Ontario and Romania. A supplier licence is separate from a casino’s operating licence: both the studio that makes a game and the site that offers it to you need to be licensed for British players. Our remote licences page explains the different types.

  1. Go to the Gambling Commission’s public register of businesses (opens in a new tab).
  2. Search for the company name (Push Gaming Holding Limited) or the account number 054984.
  3. Open the entry and check that the licence status is active.
  4. Look at the licence types listed, which show whether the business supplies games, operates a casino or both.
  5. Repeat the search for the casino you plan to use, since its own licence is what protects your account and funds.

Push Gaming slots: RTP, volatility and max win

Every slot below comes from our checked slot data. Where we hold no verified max win, the table says so.

The pattern is clear: this is a studio that builds for volatility. Only Mount Magmas is rated medium, and Fat Santa medium to high. Everything else is high, which means the bulk of the return arrives through features rather than steady base-game wins.

The best-known Push Gaming slots

Jammin’ Jars and Jammin’ Jars 2

Jammin’ Jars uses an 8×8 grid where five or more connected symbols pay, the cluster pays format. Its 96.83% default is the best return in this catalogue. The sequel, Jammin’ Jars 2, released on 2 June 2021, keeps the grid but raises the cap from 20,000× to 50,000×. Its RTP is published as 96.1% rising to 96.6% in the default version; the game’s help screen explains how that range applies, so read it before relying on the higher figure.

Razor Shark and Razor Returns

Razor Shark is a 5×4, 20-line game at 96.70%. Its 2023 follow-up, Razor Returns, moves to 5×5 with 40 lines and a 100,000× cap, built around Nudge & Reveal mystery stacks and free spins with starting multipliers up to 25×. We don’t hold a verified RTP for Razor Returns, so check its rules screen. Our page on mystery symbols explains how reveal mechanics work.

Big Bamboo and the Fat series

Big Bamboo (2022) is a 5×6, 50-line game with a 50,000× ceiling. The Fat games, Fat Rabbit, Fat Santa and Fat Banker, share a 50-line structure, with Fat Banker on a larger 6×6 grid. Fat Santa also appears on our Christmas slots page.

Push Gaming RTP versions: what 2% really costs

Our checked data records two settings for several Push Gaming games, and the gap between them is about 2 to 2.3 percentage points. Expected loss is simply the total staked multiplied by (100% − RTP), so the difference is easy to price.

Average loss on £200 staked (400 spins at 50p)
SlotDefault RTP lossLower RTP lossExtra cost
Big Bamboo (96.13% / 94.13%)£7.74£11.74£4.00
Fat Banker (96.43% / 94.45%)£7.14£11.10£3.96
Fat Rabbit (96.45% / 94.15%)£7.10£11.70£4.60
Retro Tapes (96.47% / 94.46%)£7.06£11.08£4.02

On the lower settings you lose, on average, more than half as much again for the same play. Casinos choose which version to offer, and our page on whether casinos can change a game’s RTP explains the rules around that choice. UK rules require the RTP or likelihood of winning to be available before you play, so the figure should be in the game’s information screen.

High volatility and 50,000× caps in practice

A 50,000× cap is £5,000 at a 10p stake and £50,000 at £1. Those figures are possible but extremely rare, and Push Gaming does not publish how often they occur. The flip side of a huge ceiling on a high-volatility game is that many sessions return little. With a £20 budget at 50p a spin you have 40 spins if nothing lands; at 10p you have 200, which gives features far more chances to appear. Our volatility and slots strategy pages go further into matching stake to budget.

Nothing in a slot’s history changes the next spin. A game that hasn’t triggered a feature for a while is no more likely to do so now; see do online slots have memory.

Push Gaming slots and UK rules

  • Online slot stakes are capped at £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18–24, as set out in the Gambling Commission’s stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab).
  • UK versions run at a minimum of 2.5 seconds per spin, with autoplay, turbo and slam-stop all removed since 31 October 2021.
  • Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players.
  • Your net spend and time played must be shown in real time while you play.

Our slot stake limits page explains how a game cycle is defined for the limit.

Who Push Gaming slots suit

Advantages

  • Jammin’ Jars and Razor Shark carry some of the higher default RTPs we track.
  • Clear, published lower-RTP versions make it possible to know what you are playing.
  • UK-based studio licensed by the Gambling Commission.

Drawbacks

  • Almost every title is high volatility, so budgets can run down fast.
  • The lower versions are around 2 percentage points worse than the defaults.
  • Several games have no verified max win in our data.

If you want a gentler game from the studio, Mount Magmas is the only one rated medium. Otherwise, compare styles on our high vs low volatility page.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns Push Gaming?

Push Gaming is majority-owned by LeoVegas Group, which announced the deal in May 2023, and LeoVegas is part of MGM Resorts. The studio was founded in 2010, with James Marshall as a co-founder, and is headquartered in London with an office in Malta. Ownership does not alter how existing games pay, because each slot’s maths is fixed when it is certified. Our slot providers hub shows the ownership of other major studios.

Is Push Gaming licensed in the UK?

Yes, Push Gaming is licensed by the Gambling Commission through Push Gaming Holding Limited, account number 054984. It also holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence and approvals in Ontario and Romania. You can confirm the status yourself by searching the Commission’s public register. Remember the casino you play at needs its own licence too. Our Gambling Commission explainer covers what the regulator does.

What is the RTP of Jammin’ Jars?

Jammin’ Jars has a default RTP of 96.83%, the highest of the Push Gaming slots in our checked data. That means an average return of £96.83 per £100 staked over a very long run, or an expected cost of £3.17 per £100. It is high volatility, so short sessions vary widely. Check the casino’s version in the game rules. Our Jammin’ Jars review covers its cluster grid and 20,000× cap.

Do Push Gaming slots have lower RTP versions?

Yes, several Push Gaming slots come in a second, lower version. Our data records Big Bamboo at 94.13% as well as 96.13%, Fat Banker at 94.45%, Fat Rabbit and Fat Santa at 94.15%, and Retro Tapes at 95.47% and 94.46%. On £200 of play the lower setting adds about £4 to the average loss. Our RTP explainer shows how to work out the cost for any figure.

What is the biggest max win on a Push Gaming slot?

Razor Returns has the highest cap in our data at 100,000× the stake, followed by Big Bamboo and Jammin’ Jars 2 at 50,000× each and Fat Banker at 25,000×. Those caps are theoretical ceilings that very few spins ever approach, and the studio does not publish how often they are reached. Our page on what a slot’s max win means explains how to read them.

Are Push Gaming slots high volatility?

Most of them are. Jammin’ Jars, Jammin’ Jars 2, Razor Shark, Big Bamboo, Fat Banker, Fat Rabbit and Retro Tapes are all rated high, Fat Santa is medium to high and Mount Magmas is medium. High volatility means longer gaps between meaningful wins and a larger share of the return coming from features. A smaller stake makes a fixed budget last longer. See our volatility guide for worked examples.

Can I play Push Gaming slots at £10 a spin in the UK?

No. Online slot stakes in Great Britain are limited to £5 a spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 a spin for 18 to 24-year-olds, and that applies to Push Gaming slots like every other studio’s. The limits took effect on 9 April and 21 May 2025. They do not apply to table or live games. Our page on the maximum stake on a UK slot has the detail.

Is Razor Returns the sequel to Razor Shark?

Yes, Razor Returns is the 2023 follow-up to Razor Shark. It moves from Razor Shark’s 5×4 grid with 20 lines to a 5×5 grid with 40 fixed lines, keeps the mystery-stack idea through its Nudge & Reveal feature, and adds free spins that can start with multipliers up to 25×. Its cap is 100,000× the stake. We hold no verified RTP for it, so check the help screen. Our Razor Shark review covers the original.
