Reel Kingdom slots

Reel Kingdom slots are, above all, the Big Bass fishing games, a series that began with Big Bass Bonanza on 14 December 2020 and now runs to well over a dozen versions. Pragmatic Play distributes them, which is why they sit under its branding in casino lobbies. This guide compares the versions by RTP, volatility and max win, and shows what each costs.

Key takeaways

  • Reel Kingdom is best known for the Big Bass series, distributed by Pragmatic Play.
  • Big Bass games split into two RTP groups in our data: about 96.71% and about 96.07%, with the lower group usually carrying bigger max wins.
  • Max wins range from 2,100× (the original Big Bass Bonanza) to 20,000× (Big Bass Bonanza 1000 and Hold & Spinner Megaways).
  • The signature mechanic is a Fisherman wild that collects the cash values on fish symbols during free spins.
  • PlayOJO’s welcome spins are on Big Bass Bonanza: 80 spins at 10p after a £10 first deposit, no wagering, 18+, terms apply.

Reel Kingdom and its Pragmatic Play partnership

Reel Kingdom is a slot developer that reaches casinos through Pragmatic Play, its distribution partner. In practice that means a Reel Kingdom game is hosted, supplied and branded through Pragmatic’s platform, so many players think of the Big Bass games as Pragmatic originals. Big Bass Bonanza is usually named alongside Gates of Olympus and Sweet Bonanza as one of the best-known games in Pragmatic’s portfolio; you can browse the distributor’s range on the Pragmatic Play homepage (opens in a new tab).

Our checked data does not give Reel Kingdom’s founding date, head office or its own licence details, so we don’t state them. What is clear is the output: one breakthrough game, a long fishing series built from it, and a handful of other titles such as Floating Dragon, Return of the Dead and Emerald King. For other studios, see our slot providers hub.

How the Fisherman collect mechanic works

Almost every Reel Kingdom slot in the series turns on one idea. During free spins, fish symbols land carrying cash values, and a Fisherman wild that lands on the same spin collects them all. Later games change who does the collecting: a Santa wild in Christmas Big Bass Bonanza, Punter wilds in Big Bass Day at the Races, and two Fisherman wilds at once in Big Bass Vegas Double Down Deluxe.

The other recurring lever is the multiplier. In several versions, collecting enough wilds upgrades the multiplier on later collections. Christmas Big Bass Bonanza tops out at 10×, while Big Bass Day at the Races lets multipliers rise to 50×. Higher ceilings like that are a big part of why the newer games quote much larger max wins.

The cash-collect idea is related to hold and win features, where money symbols lock in place, but in the classic Big Bass games the collection happens on ordinary free spins rather than in a separate respin grid.

Big Bass RTP: two price points, not one

Look down the RTP column and a pattern appears. One group of games sits at about 96.71%; another, mostly from 2022 onwards, sits at 96.07%. The 96.07% group tends to quote the bigger caps: Keeping it Reel, Amazon Xtreme, Hold & Spinner and Day at the Races all reach 10,000×. In plain terms, the newer games take a slightly bigger cut on average and push more of what they pay back into rare, large wins.

What does 0.64 percentage points cost? Over 500 spins at 20p you stake £100. At 96.71% the average loss is £3.29; at 96.07% it is £3.93. That 64p gap is small next to the swings of a single session, but it is a real, permanent difference in price. Our RTP explainer shows the same sum for any game.

Average cost of 500 spins at different stakes
StakeTotal stakedLoss at 96.71% RTPLoss at 96.07% RTP
10p£50£1.65£1.97
20p£100£3.29£3.93
50p£250£8.23£9.83
£1£500£16.45£19.65
£2£1,000£32.90£39.30

Lower versions exist too. Our data shows Bigger Bass Bonanza at 95.67% and 94.62% as alternatives, and Big Bass Amazon Xtreme at 95.08% and 94.05%. At 94.05% the 20p example above would cost about £5.95 instead of £3.93, so it is worth checking the game’s rules screen before you play.

Volatility: why Big Bass sessions feel streaky

The Fisherman mechanic concentrates the return. In the base game you mostly see small line wins; the larger results come when free spins land and a wild coincides with valuable fish. That makes the series high volatility overall, with Amazon Xtreme and Hold & Spinner rated very high. Big Bass Vegas 1000 is an outlier at medium, despite its 15,000× cap. Free spins arrive at random: a long gap without them does not make the next spin more likely to trigger, as our page on whether a slot can be due a win explains.

What the max wins mean in pounds

Caps scale with your stake. On the original Big Bass Bonanza the 2,100× cap is £210 at 10p and £2,100 at £1. On Big Bass Bonanza 1000 the 20,000× cap is £2,000 at 10p. These are ceilings: once a cap is reached the game typically stops paying further wins, and Reel Kingdom does not publish how often that happens. For budgeting, the RTP and volatility tell you far more than the cap. See what a slot’s max win means.

Reel Kingdom slots beyond Big Bass

Floating Dragon is the clearest non-fishing title in our data: 5 reels, 3 rows, 10 fixed paylines, a 96.71% default RTP, high volatility and a 5,000× cap, released in 2021. Its figures sit very close to the Big Bass games, which suggests a shared design approach. Return of the Dead and Emerald King are also Reel Kingdom games, but we hold no verified specifications for them, so check each game’s help screen for its RTP, volatility and max win.

Working out what a Big Bass spin offer is worth

Because Big Bass Bonanza is a common choice for welcome spins, it helps to know how to value them. The method is simple and works for any spin offer:

  1. Multiply the number of spins by the value of each spin to get the total stake (80 × 10p = £8).
  2. Multiply that by the game’s RTP to get the average return (£8 × 96.71% = about £7.74).
  3. Check the wagering: with no wagering, winnings are cash; with wagering, the house edge applies again to every pound you play through.
  4. Check the expiry and any eligible-game list so the spins aren’t lost.
  5. Remember the average hides a wide spread: many players will get less than £7.74, a few will get much more.

Our free spins value guide covers wagering and caps in more depth, and no wagering bonuses explains why spins without wagering are easier to value.

Playing Reel Kingdom slots under UK rules

  • The most you can stake is £5 a spin from age 25, or £2 if you are 18–24, under the Gambling Commission’s online slot stake limits (opens in a new tab).
  • Each spin must take at least 2.5 seconds, with no autoplay, turbo or slam-stop, and the game can’t celebrate a return that is lower than your stake. Our game design rules page lists every change.
  • Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players, so UK versions of Big Bass games don’t let you pay to jump into free spins.
  • You must pass age verification even to open the demo version.

Frequently asked questions

Who makes the Big Bass slots?

The Big Bass slots are made by Reel Kingdom and distributed by Pragmatic Play. That is why casino lobbies usually show them under Pragmatic’s name. The series started with Big Bass Bonanza on 14 December 2020 and has grown into seasonal, Megaways, hold-and-spin and 1000 editions, all built around a Fisherman wild that collects fish cash values. Our Big Bass series page lists every version with links to individual reviews.

What is the RTP of Big Bass Bonanza?

Big Bass Bonanza has a default RTP of 96.71%. On average that returns £96.71 for every £100 staked over a very large number of spins, an expected cost of £3.29 per £100. Casinos can run lower versions of Reel Kingdom games, so check the figure in the game’s rules before you play. Our full Big Bass Bonanza review covers its layout, volatility and 2,100× max win.

Which Big Bass slot has the highest RTP?

Several Big Bass games share the top default RTP of 96.71% in our checked data, including Big Bass Bonanza, Bigger Bass Bonanza, Big Bass Splash, Big Bass Christmas Bash and Big Bass Halloween 2. Big Bass Bonanza Megaways and Hold & Spinner Megaways are just behind at about 96.7%. Many 2022–2024 releases sit at 96.07%. Differences this small matter less than volatility for a single session, as our is a higher RTP slot better page explains.

Which Big Bass game has the biggest max win?

Big Bass Bonanza 1000 and Big Bass Hold & Spinner Megaways share the highest cap in our data at 20,000× the stake. Big Bass Vegas 1000 follows at 15,000×, then a group of games at 10,000×. The original Big Bass Bonanza is capped at 2,100×. A cap is the most one feature can pay, not a typical result. Our explainer on max win caps puts these figures into pounds.

Are Reel Kingdom slots high volatility?

Most are, yes. Big Bass Bonanza, Bigger Bass Bonanza and Floating Dragon are rated high, while Big Bass Amazon Xtreme, Hold & Spinner and Bonanza Megaways are very high. Big Bass Halloween is medium-high and Big Bass Vegas 1000 is medium. High volatility means most of the return comes from occasional free-spin features, so short sessions vary widely. Our volatility guide explains how to match a game to your budget.

Is Reel Kingdom part of Pragmatic Play?

Our checked data describes Pragmatic Play as Reel Kingdom’s distribution partner, not its owner. Pragmatic supplies and brands the games through its platform, which is why they appear alongside Pragmatic’s own slots such as Gates of Olympus and Sweet Bonanza. We hold no verified details of Reel Kingdom’s ownership, so we don’t state one. Our Pragmatic Play slots page covers the distributor and its in-house games.

Can I buy free spins on Big Bass slots in the UK?

No, British players are not offered a buy option on Big Bass slots. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins have not been offered to British players, so UK versions require you to trigger free spins in normal play. Versions in other countries may show a buy button. Our page on feature buy rules in the UK gives the background to the warning.

What are PlayOJO’s Big Bass Bonanza spins worth?

On average, about £7.74. PlayOJO gives new UK customers (excluding Northern Ireland) 80 spins at 10p on Big Bass Bonanza after a £10 minimum first deposit, so £8 is staked; at 96.71% RTP the average return is about £7.74, paid as cash because there is no wagering. Actual results vary a lot either way. It is 18+ and terms apply. See our PlayOJO welcome bonus page for the full terms.
