Fat Banker slot: what you need to know

Fat Banker is set in 1920s New York, with the Banker, his wife and his dog touring Manhattan against a skyline backdrop. Under the styling sits a high-volatility game with fixed paylines, instant-prize symbols and a free spins round where the Banker character physically grows on the reels. The figures below come from the developer's published specification and the studio's launch announcement.

How the features work in Fat Banker

Fat Banker runs on a simple loop. In the base game, prize symbols need a partner before they pay; in the bonus, a character gets bigger the more he collects. Here is how the pieces connect, before the base game and free spins sections further down go into the numbers.

  • Bullion and the Silver Safe: Bullion symbols show cash prizes, but those prizes stay unpaid until a Silver Safe lands on reel six. The safe is what turns the values on screen into a win.
  • The Red Car: after a spin, a Red Car can drive through and add Wild Money Bags with multipliers, extra Safes and more Bullion, so a spin that looked empty can still be rescued once the reels stop.
  • The trigger: the free spins need two things on the same spin, the Fat Banker wild and a Wild Money Bag. That pairing gives you five free spins.
  • The growing Banker: in the round, the Banker collects Wild Money Bags along with their multipliers. Each one fills a meter, and filling it makes him bigger on the grid and awards extra spins.

Because the extra spins come from collecting bags, the bonus can be short or long depending on how many arrive. A bigger Banker also covers more of the grid, which is the visual signal that the round is building.

British players can't pay straight into the bonus, because feature buy-ins aren't offered here. An independent rundown is in OLBG's Fat Banker review (opens in a new tab), and our bonus rounds guide explains how collection rounds like this compare with other designs.

The Fat series and where Fat Banker fits

Push Gaming's Fat series is built around big, cartoonish lead characters, and the games in our checked data all use 50 fixed paylines. Fat Banker arrived four years after the first game.

Fat Rabbit and Fat Santa play on 5×5 grids, so Fat Banker's 6×6 layout is a step up in size. Both also come in a 94.15% version, so the habit of supplying a lower-RTP option runs through the series. If you enjoyed the festive version, our Christmas slots page lists similar seasonal games.

Push Gaming, the studio behind Fat Banker

Push Gaming is headquartered in London with an office in Malta, and was co-founded by James Marshall, its chief executive. LeoVegas Group, part of MGM Resorts, announced a majority stake in May 2023. In Great Britain the studio is licensed by the Gambling Commission as Push Gaming Holding Limited, account 054984, and it also holds licences in Malta, Ontario and Romania.

Its best-known slots include Jammin' Jars, Razor Shark and Big Bamboo. At Fat Banker's launch, Marshall said the game expands the Fat series while adding its own twist to the franchise.

How 50 fixed paylines work on the Fat Banker grid

Unlike Megaways or 'ways' games, Fat Banker uses fixed paylines. All 50 lines are always active, wins pay left to right on adjacent reels, and your stake is spread across every line. You cannot switch lines off to save money.

The arithmetic is simple. A 10p spin covers 50 lines at 0.2p each; a £1 spin covers them at 2p each. The four card suits are the low-paying symbols, while the top hat, cigar, dog and the Banker's wife are the premium ones. The paytable shows what each combination is worth at your current stake, so open it after changing your bet.

The Fat Banker symbol is the wild and substitutes for all symbols except the Silver Safe, Bullion and multiplier symbols. Read how this compares with ways to win if you are used to Megaways games.

Bullion, Silver Safes and the Red Car

Two features drive the base game. Bullion symbols are instant prizes that can land on reels one to five, showing 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 50x or 100x the stake. They only pay when a Silver Safe lands on reel six in the same spin. Without the safe, the Bullion values on screen are not awarded.

Worked example: on a 50p spin, a 10x and a 25x Bullion land along with a Silver Safe on reel six. The prizes add up to 35x, or £17.50. Had the safe not appeared, those two symbols would pay nothing.

The Red Car can drive past at the end of a spin and randomly add Wild Money Bags (which can carry multipliers), Silver Safes and Bullion symbols to the reels. It is a random modifier, not something you can trigger at will. Our page on multipliers explains how attached multipliers work in general.

Fat Banker free spins: the growing Banker

The bonus starts when the Fat Banker lands together with a Wild Money Bag. You begin with five free spins. During the round the Banker moves onto Wild Money Bags and collects them, filling a progress meter. As the meter fills, the Banker grows bigger on the grid and more free spins are added.

Money Bags can land with multipliers attached. These are collected and accumulate, and from then on they multiply any win the Banker creates. The Red Car is upgraded to a Gold Red Car in this round, placing Wild Money Bags or random instant-prize symbols on the grid, which can enlarge the Banker and award further spins. The launch material also lists a Fortune Link feature without describing it, so check the paytable for how it works in your version. Our general guide to free spins features puts this design in context.

The developer does not publish how often the bonus triggers, and we do not quote unofficial figures. Treat every spin as independent.

Fat Banker RTP: 96.43% or 94.45%

Fat Banker exists in two versions. At 96.43% the expected cost is £3.57 per £100 staked; at 94.45% it is £5.55. The lower version costs about 55% more for the same game. The casino decides which to run, and the information screen tells you which one you are playing. Our guide to slot RTP explains how these figures are certified.

What £20 on Fat Banker looks like at 10p, 50p and £1

High volatility means the RTP is earned through occasional large results, mostly from the Banker feature and Bullion prizes, while many spins return little. Spin size changes how many chances you get from a fixed budget, not the percentage cost.

  • 10p: 200 spins from £20, about 0.36p average cost per spin at 96.43%.
  • 50p: 40 spins, about 1.79p average cost per spin.
  • £1: 20 spins, about 3.57p average cost per spin, and a high chance the session ends before any bonus.

The more often you recycle wins, the more you stake in total and the closer your result tends to drift towards the expected cost. Our page on expected value shows the formula, and how long £20 lasts on a slot runs through more scenarios.

The Fat Banker max win of 25,000x

The top prize is 25,000 times the stake. The table converts it into pounds at stakes UK players can use.

Fat Banker and UK slot rules

British players can stake up to £5 a spin at 25 and over and £2 at 18 to 24, as set out in the Commission's online slots stake limit guidance (opens in a new tab). Spins take at least 2.5 seconds, there is no autoplay or turbo, and net position and time are on screen. Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020 (opens in a new tab), feature buy-ins are not offered to British players, so the Banker round is reached only through normal play. Our UK game design rules page lists every requirement.

Casinos choose which version to offer, so the RTP line in the game rules is the one that applies to you. Our explainer on why RTPs differ between casinos shows how this works.

What is the max win on Fat Banker?

The maximum win on Fat Banker is 25,000 times the stake. That is £2,500 on a 10p spin, £25,000 on a £1 spin and £125,000 at the £5 maximum for UK players aged 25 and over. It is a cap on a single round and is reached only very rarely, so it should not shape your budget. Our page on the highest paying slots puts the figure in context.

How do the free spins work on Fat Banker?

Fat Banker's free spins start when the Banker lands with a Wild Money Bag, and you begin with five spins. The Banker collects Wild Money Bags to fill a meter; as it fills, he grows and more spins are added. Multipliers on collected bags build up and apply to his later wins, and a Gold Red Car can add more bags or prizes. Our bonus rounds guide explains features like this.

How many paylines does Fat Banker have?

Fat Banker has 50 fixed paylines on a grid of six reels and six rows. All lines are active on every spin, wins pay left to right from the first reel, and you cannot reduce the number of lines. A 10p spin works out at 0.2p per line, and a £1 spin at 2p per line. Our paylines guide explains how fixed lines differ from ways-to-win systems.

What do Bullion and Silver Safe symbols do on Fat Banker?

Bullion symbols on Fat Banker are instant prizes worth 1x to 100x the stake, but they only pay when a Silver Safe lands on reel six in the same spin. Bullion can land on reels one to five. For example, a 10x and a 25x Bullion with a Silver Safe on a 50p spin pay £17.50 in total. Our glossary entry on multipliers explains how stake multiples are calculated.

Is Fat Banker part of a series?

Yes, Fat Banker is the fourth game in Push Gaming's Fat series. It follows Fat Rabbit from March 2018, Fat Santa from November 2018 and Fat Drac from October 2021. Fat Rabbit and Fat Santa also use 50 fixed paylines, and each game is led by an oversized character. Fat Rabbit and Fat Santa top out at 96.45% RTP. Read our Fat Rabbit review to compare the original.

Who makes Fat Banker?

Push Gaming makes Fat Banker. The studio is based in London with an office in Malta, holds a Gambling Commission licence as Push Gaming Holding Limited, and has been majority-owned by LeoVegas Group, part of MGM Resorts, since a deal announced in May 2023. Its other well-known games include Jammin' Jars and Razor Shark. Our Push Gaming profile lists more of its slots with key figures.

Is Fat Banker high volatility?

Yes, Fat Banker is rated high volatility. Most of its return is concentrated in the free spins and Bullion prizes, so many spins return little and balances can fall for long stretches. Sessions vary widely from the average. Keeping stakes small relative to your budget gives you more spins and a smoother ride. Our high-volatility slots page explains who these games suit.
