Quickspin slots

Quickspin slots come from a Stockholm studio founded in the early 2010s and owned by Playtech since May 2016, with Big Bad Wolf, Sakura Fortune and Goldilocks among its best-known games. Its catalogue leans towards medium volatility and strong default RTPs, including Big Bad Wolf at 97.34%, but at least one title also exists in a version around 90%.

Key takeaways

  • Quickspin is a Stockholm studio, part of Playtech since May 2016, licensed in Great Britain under Gambling Commission account 38516.
  • Big Bad Wolf’s 97.34% default RTP is one of the highest we track for any slot.
  • Most Quickspin games in our data are medium or medium-high volatility, which suits smaller budgets better than very high-volatility games.
  • Sakura Fortune runs at up to 96.58%, but a version around 90% also exists and roughly triples the average cost.
  • The studio’s name has nothing to do with the ‘quick spin’ feature banned on UK slots in 2021.

Who is behind Quickspin slots

Quickspin AB was set up in Stockholm in the early 2010s; reference listings give 2012 as the year. It also has offices in Sliema, Malta, and Kyiv, Ukraine. In May 2016 it was bought by Playtech, the Isle of Man-based supplier listed on the London Stock Exchange, which you can read about on the Playtech website (opens in a new tab) and on our Playtech slots page.

The catalogue runs to about 150 video slots, and the studio has also launched Quickspin Live. Being part of a large group means Quickspin games tend to be widely distributed, but whether a given casino carries them is up to that casino, so check its lobby. Our slot providers hub lists the other studios we cover.

Quickspin licences

Quickspin holds Gambling Commission account 38516 for Great Britain and a Malta Gaming Authority licence, MGA/CRP/137/2007. A studio licence means the Commission has approved the business to supply games to British operators; the casino still needs its own operating licence. You can search either on the Commission’s public register (opens in a new tab). Our Gambling Commission guide explains what the regulator checks.

Quickspin the studio vs ‘quick spin’ the banned feature

The name causes genuine confusion. ‘Quick spin’ (also called turbo) was a feature that let players speed up the reels or stop them early to see results sooner. The Gambling Commission’s 2021 design rules banned it on UK online slots from 31 October 2021, along with slam-stop and autoplay; the exact wording is in the Commission’s summary of changes to its technical standards (opens in a new tab).

Quickspin the studio is simply a brand name and is unaffected. Its games, like every other studio’s, must now take at least 2.5 seconds per spin in Britain, and you have to press the start button again for each spin. Our page on turbo spins and our game speed rules page go into the detail.

Quickspin slots: RTP, volatility and layout

These are the Quickspin games in our checked slot data. We hold no verified max-win figures for them, so check each game’s help screen for its cap.

Hot Sync96.29%High5×320 paylines2017
Phoenix Sun96.08%Medium5 reels, 3 to 6 rows243 to 7,776 ways2016

Compared with studios that build almost entirely for high volatility, this is a noticeably calmer line-up. Only Hot Sync is rated high. Phoenix Sun is a good example of a game where the number of ways to win grows during play, from 243 with three rows to 7,776 with six.

Big Bad Wolf and the case for high RTP

Big Bad Wolf is the standout figure. At 97.34% its expected cost is £2.66 per £100 staked, compared with about £3.50 on a typical 96.5% slot and £3.92 on Phoenix Sun at 96.08%. Over a single evening that difference is small, but it is permanent: the game is cheaper to play on average, every session. Our RTP guide explains how that average is worked out, and is a higher RTP slot better looks at when it matters most.

Quickspin RTP versions: the Sakura Fortune example

Sakura Fortune shows why you should always check the version. Our data gives up to 96.58% as the top setting but records a version around 90%. On £100 staked, 96.58% costs £3.42 on average; 90% costs about £10. Same reels, same symbols, roughly three times the price. Under the Commission’s technical standards a game has to make its RTP or likelihood of winning available before you commit to play, so look in the rules screen. For the theme, see our Asian-themed slots page.

What Quickspin slots cost per hour

Cost per hour is stake × spins per hour × (100% − RTP). UK rules set a floor of 2.5 seconds a spin, which caps play at 1,440 spins an hour in theory; most people play far fewer once features and pauses are included. The table assumes 600 spins an hour at 20p, so £120 staked per hour. Our cost per hour page has a fuller method.

These are averages over many sessions. Any single hour can end well above or well below them, especially on Hot Sync, the one high-volatility game here.

Setting up a sensible session on a medium-volatility slot

Medium volatility means smaller but more regular wins than a high-volatility game, which makes a fixed budget last longer on average. It doesn’t make losses less likely over time. A simple routine helps:

  1. Decide the session budget before you log in, and set a deposit limit in your account to match.
  2. Choose a stake around 1% of that budget, so a £20 budget means 20p spins and about 100 spins if nothing comes back.
  3. Switch on a reality check or time reminder in the casino’s safer gambling settings.
  4. Watch the net spend and time-played figures that UK slots must now show while you play.
  5. Stop when the budget is gone, and don’t top it up to chase a loss.

UK rules that apply to Quickspin slots

  • Maximum stake of £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over (from 9 April 2025) and £2 for 18–24-year-olds (from 21 May 2025). See our slot stake limits page.
  • No autoplay, no turbo or slam-stop, at least 2.5 seconds per spin, and no celebrating a return lower than the stake.
  • Since a Gambling Commission warning in January 2020, feature buy-ins are not offered to British players.
  • Age verification is required before you can deposit, gamble or open a free demo.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns Quickspin?

Quickspin has been owned by Playtech since May 2016. Playtech is an Isle of Man-based gambling technology company listed on the London Stock Exchange, known for its Age of the Gods jackpots and live casino. Quickspin still operates as its own studio from Stockholm, with offices in Malta and Ukraine. Our Playtech slots page covers the parent company and its other games.

What is Quickspin’s highest RTP slot?

Big Bad Wolf has the highest default RTP of the Quickspin games in our checked data, at 97.34%. That works out at an average cost of £2.66 per £100 staked. Sakura Fortune and Sticky Bandits follow at 96.58%. Casinos can run lower versions, so check the figure in the game’s rules. Our Big Bad Wolf review covers its layout and medium volatility.

Is Quickspin licensed in the UK?

Yes, Quickspin is licensed by the Gambling Commission under account number 38516, and it also holds a Malta Gaming Authority licence. You can check its status on the Commission’s public register by searching the name or number. The casino you play at must hold its own licence as well, which is what protects your account. Our remote licences page explains the difference between supplier and operator licences.

Are Quickspin slots high volatility?

Mostly not. In our data Big Bad Wolf and Phoenix Sun are rated medium, Sticky Bandits and Dwarfs Gone Wild medium-high, and only Hot Sync is high. That makes the studio a reasonable choice if you want a budget to last, though losses are still likely over time because every game has a house edge. Our volatility explainer shows how volatility changes the way a session feels.

Why does Sakura Fortune have different RTPs?

Sakura Fortune, like many slots, is supplied in more than one RTP setting and the casino picks which to run. Our data shows a top setting of up to 96.58% and a version around 90%. On £100 staked that is about £3.42 against about £10 of average cost. The game must show its RTP or likelihood of winning before you play. Our page on why slot RTPs differ between casinos explains the reasons.

Is Quickspin’s name related to the quick spin ban?

No, the studio’s name is just a brand and has nothing to do with the feature. ‘Quick spin’, or turbo, let players speed up or skip reel animations, and the Gambling Commission banned it on UK online slots from 31 October 2021, along with slam-stop and autoplay. Quickspin’s games follow the same rules as everyone else’s, with a minimum of 2.5 seconds per spin. See our 2.5-second rule page.

Can I play Quickspin slots for free in the UK?

Many casinos offer Quickspin demos, but UK rules require you to pass age verification first, even for free play. Demo versions use the same rules and symbols as the real game, which makes them useful for seeing how a medium-volatility title like Big Bad Wolf behaves without spending money. They don’t tell you which RTP version is used for real-money play. Our demo play guide explains the rules.

How many slots has Quickspin made?

Quickspin’s catalogue runs to about 150 video slots, and it also offers Quickspin Live. The best-known titles include Big Bad Wolf, Sakura Fortune, Goldilocks and Genie’s Touch. We review a selection on this site with verified RTP, volatility and layout figures, and you can browse them through our slot reviews section. Whether a casino carries a particular Quickspin game is up to that casino, so check its lobby.
