Auto roulette: the dealerless live wheel
Auto roulette is live roulette without a dealer: a real, fully automated wheel launches the ball and the result is streamed to you, around the clock. Evolution’s version runs 60 to 80 games an hour, and because it comes in European, French and American forms, the wheel you pick matters far more than the machine spinning it.
Key takeaways
- The wheel and ball are physical; only the dealer is replaced by automation.
- Evolution’s Auto Roulette can run 60 to 80 games an hour, 24 hours a day.
- European versions carry a 2.70% edge and American versions 5.26%, so check which you’ve joined.
- An automated wheel isn’t autoplay: you still place every bet yourself under UK rules.

What auto roulette is
In auto roulette, a machine does the dealer’s job. Evolution’s Auto Roulette page (opens in a new tab) puts it plainly: ‘there’s no live dealer. Instead the live game is powered by an advanced, fully automated, precision Roulette wheel.’ The wheel, ball and pockets are real and filmed live, so this isn’t a computer-generated game.
Taking the dealer away makes the game quicker and lets it run day and night. Evolution says its wheels are capable of 60 to 80 games an hour, 24 hours a day, and offers them as both mainstream and VIP tables. For the full family of variants, start at our roulette hub.
How an automated roulette wheel works
The wheel launches the ball itself, so no croupier’s hand is involved at any point, and winning bets are settled by the game once the ball comes to rest. The same automated wheels power other Evolution games: in Lightning Roulette, for example, a presenter hosts but the ball is spun by an Auto Roulette wheel.
Because nobody touches the ball or wheel during play, the format fits closely with the Gambling Commission’s guidance on mechanical random devices, covered below. If you’d like the human touch, our page on live dealers explains how dealer tables differ.
How to play auto roulette online
- In the live casino lobby, open an Auto Roulette table and check whether it’s European, French or American.
- Read the table limits and the help screen, which sets out the payouts and RTP.
- Place your chips during the betting countdown; there’s no dealer to wait for.
- The automated wheel launches the ball, and you watch it on the live stream.
- The result appears on screen and winning bets are credited automatically.
- The next countdown begins. Press re-bet to repeat your stake, or change it; every round needs your action.
Auto roulette versions: European, French and American
Evolution offers Auto Roulette in European, French and American forms. This is the biggest choice you’ll make, because the wheel sets the house edge:
| Version | Wheel | Edge on most bets | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| European Auto Roulette | Single zero, 37 pockets | 2.70% | Standard payouts on every bet |
| French Auto Roulette | Single zero, 37 pockets | 2.70%; 1.35% on even-money bets if La Partage applies | Check the help screen for La Partage or En Prison |
| American Auto Roulette | Zero and double zero, 38 pockets | 5.26% | The five-number bet (0, 00, 1, 2, 3) costs 7.89% |
Evolution’s dealer-run French Roulette uses La Partage, returning half of a losing even-money bet when zero lands, which halves the edge on those bets to 1.35%. Its public Auto Roulette page doesn’t say which rule the French auto table uses, so confirm it before relying on the lower figure. Our European vs American roulette comparison shows how much the double zero costs over time.
Auto roulette odds on single and double-zero wheels
Payouts are the same on both wheels; only the number of pockets changes. That’s why the American version is dearer for exactly the same bets, as Wizard of Odds’ roulette basics (opens in a new tab) set out:
| Bet | Pays | Single zero (37) | Double zero (38) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Straight-up | 35 to 1 | 2.70% | 2.63% |
| Split | 17 to 1 | 5.41% | 5.26% |
| Street | 11 to 1 | 8.11% | 7.89% |
| Corner | 8 to 1 | 10.81% | 10.53% |
| Six line | 5 to 1 | 16.22% | 15.79% |
| Dozen or column | 2 to 1 | 32.43% | 31.58% |
| Even-money | 1 to 1 | 48.65% | 47.37% |
The gap per bet looks tiny, but it’s the difference between losing 1 unit in 37 and 2 units in 38 on average. Our roulette odds and American roulette pages break this down further.
What auto roulette costs per hour
At 60 to 80 games an hour, auto roulette sits between a standard dealer table and the fastest speed formats. Using the top of Evolution’s range, 80 games an hour, the average cost looks like this:
| Stake per game | European (2.70%) | French even-money with La Partage (1.35%) | American (5.26%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| £1 | £2.16 | £1.08 | £4.21 |
| £2 | £4.32 | £2.16 | £8.42 |
| £5 | £10.80 | £5.40 | £21.04 |
At the slower end, 60 games an hour, multiply each figure by three-quarters. Picking the American wheel by mistake roughly doubles your hourly cost; picking a French table for even-money bets roughly halves it. See our cost per hour guide for other games.
Is auto roulette fair? UK standards for mechanical wheels
The Gambling Commission’s RTS 7 standard (opens in a new tab) requires game results to be ‘acceptably random’ and bans compensated (adaptive) games that adjust outcomes to hit a target. Its guidance on mechanical random devices adds that the physical items used to pick a result shouldn’t be altered and that players shouldn’t be able to touch them. A dealerless, automated wheel is a direct example of that set-up.
Automation doesn’t make the wheel predictable. The ball’s final bounces still decide the pocket, and every spin is independent of the one before. Our answers to is online roulette random? and are live casino games rigged? explain how fairness is checked, and how casino games are tested covers the testing process.
Auto roulette vs dealer tables vs RNG roulette
| Auto roulette | Dealer live roulette | RNG roulette | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wheel | Physical, automated | Physical, spun by a dealer | Software simulation |
| Result decided by | The ball on a real wheel | The ball on a real wheel | A random number generator |
| Pace | 60 to 80 games an hour (Evolution) | Slower; dealer-paced | Set by you, within the 5-second minimum |
| Hours | 24 hours a day | Depends on the table | Always available |
| House edge (single zero) | 2.70% | 2.70% | 2.70% |
The maths is identical across all three on the same wheel. The choice is about feel, pace and whether you want a person in shot. Our RNG vs live roulette guide goes into the trade-offs.
Speed Auto, Instant Roulette and other automated wheels
- Speed Auto Roulette: Evolution’s ‘superfast variant’ runs 2,500 games a day, about 104 an hour, and takes bets only while the wheel spins. See speed roulette for what that pace does to the hourly cost.
- Instant Roulette: according to Evolution’s live roulette range (opens in a new tab), twelve synchronised Auto Roulette wheels spin almost constantly.
- American Football Auto Roulette: a themed automated table listed in Evolution’s roulette range.
- Other studios: Stakelogic Live’s UK launch in May 2026 included auto roulette alongside dealer roulette and blackjack; see Stakelogic Live.
Our speed roulette vs auto roulette comparison puts the two most common fast formats side by side.
Auto roulette myths: machines and patterns
- ‘The machine fires the ball the same way, so results repeat.’ Tiny differences in each launch and bounce make the landing pocket unpredictable, and UK standards require random results.
- ‘Automated tables are programmed to take more money at certain times.’ Compensated games are banned under RTS 7, and the edge comes only from the zero pocket.
- ‘Numbers that haven’t landed for a while are due.’ The wheel has no memory. Read about hot and cold numbers and wheel bias.
- ‘Fast, constant games suit a progression system.’ A system only rearranges your stakes; the D’Alembert and others still lose at the house edge.
Auto roulette in the UK: autoplay, limits and time
An automated wheel isn’t the same thing as autoplay. Since 17 January 2025 the Commission has banned autoplay for all online casino games, and its autoplay decision (opens in a new tab) saw ‘no convincing reason to exclude live casino games’. You must place each bet yourself, though a re-bet button is allowed. Each game cycle must last at least 5 seconds, and you can’t play several games at once.
Because these tables never close, set a reality check and time limit before you start. UK casinos must show your net spend and time in real time. The £5 and £2 slot stake limits don’t cover roulette, so table limits apply instead. See UK rules for live casino for the detail.
Who auto roulette suits
It suits players who want a real wheel without the wait for a dealer, and who like to drop in at any hour. It suits less those who enjoy dealer chat, or anyone who might lose track of time at a table that never stops.

Frequently asked questions
What is auto roulette?
Auto roulette is live roulette played on a real, fully automated wheel with no dealer. The machine launches the ball, a camera streams the result, and winning bets are paid automatically. Evolution’s version runs 60 to 80 games an hour, 24 hours a day. Our live roulette guide explains how it fits with dealer tables.
Is auto roulette rigged?
No. UK-licensed games must produce acceptably random results, and compensated games that adjust outcomes are banned. Gambling Commission guidance also says the physical items in a mechanical game shouldn’t be altered or touched by players, which an automated wheel supports. The casino’s edge comes entirely from the zero pocket. See are live casino games rigged? for how this is checked.
Is auto roulette the same as autoplay?
No. The wheel is automated, but you still choose and confirm every bet. Autoplay, where a game places bets for you round after round, has been banned for all online casino games in Great Britain, including live ones, since 17 January 2025. A re-bet button that repeats your last layout is allowed. Our UK rules for live casino page explains the ban.
How many spins an hour does auto roulette have?
Evolution says its Auto Roulette is capable of 60 to 80 games an hour. Speed Auto Roulette runs faster, at 2,500 games a day, which is about 104 an hour if spread evenly. More spins an hour means a higher hourly cost at the same stake. Our cost per hour guide shows how to work it out.
Which auto roulette version has the best odds?
A single-zero version, ideally French with La Partage if you bet even-money chances. European auto roulette has a 2.70% edge on every bet; La Partage cuts even-money bets to 1.35%; American auto roulette’s double zero raises the edge to 5.26%. Check which rule the French table uses in its help screen. Read French roulette for the details.
What is the difference between auto roulette and RNG roulette?
Auto roulette uses a physical wheel and ball filmed live, while RNG roulette is software that simulates a wheel with a random number generator. Both must produce random results under UK standards, and on a single-zero wheel both carry a 2.70% edge. The choice is about feel and pace. Our RNG vs live roulette page compares them.
Can I play auto roulette at any time of day?
Evolution describes its Auto Roulette as capable of running 24 hours a day, and dealerless tables don’t need staff shifts, though each casino decides which tables it lists. Round-the-clock access makes it worth setting a time limit or reality check before you play. Our safer gambling section explains those tools.
What is the minimum bet on auto roulette?
It depends on the table and the casino, so check the limits shown before you join. Evolution offers Auto Roulette as both mainstream and VIP tables, which may come with different stake ranges. Remember that the slot stake caps don’t apply to roulette. Our answer to what is the minimum bet on online roulette? covers typical ranges and how to find them.
