Apple Pay casinos UK: how paying by iPhone works
Apple Pay lets you pay a casino with a card stored in the Wallet app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, rather than typing in the card number. Online, you confirm the payment on your Apple device; on other devices you can scan an Apple Pay code with your iPhone, according to Apple's UK Apple Pay page (opens in a new tab).
It is not a separate account with its own balance. Apple Pay passes the payment to the card you choose, so it behaves like a card payment with an extra layer of security. That is why the card behind it matters so much for gambling, as we explain below. For other phone-based methods, see our Google Pay casinos page, and for every option, the payments hub.
Why Apple Pay is a secure way to pay an online casino
Apple's security and privacy overview (opens in a new tab) explains that Apple doesn't store your original card number. Instead, a Device Account Number is kept in a dedicated chip called the Secure Element, and in shops the merchant receives that number plus a one-time security code rather than your card details. Each payment has to be approved with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode.
| Point | Apple Pay | Card details typed in |
|---|---|---|
| What the casino stores | Not your original card number | Your card number, expiry and code |
| How you approve | Face ID, Touch ID or passcode | Card details plus any bank check |
| Fee from the payment service | Apple charges none | Depends on your bank and the casino |
| Bank gambling blocks | HSBC confirms its block covers digital wallets | Covered by card blocks |
| Works without your device | No | Yes |
Security cuts both ways. Fast, easy approval is convenient, and it also makes impulse deposits easier. Setting a deposit limit at the casino is a sensible counterweight. For wider safety advice, read our online casino security guide.
Which UK casinos take Apple Pay: our partners
Four of our five partners publish Apple Pay support. Both Entain brands, Coral and Ladbrokes, list it in their help centres for deposits and withdrawals. Casumo's UK site (opens in a new tab) includes it in its homepage FAQ and its withdrawal-time table. PlayOJO names Apple Pay on its help page (opens in a new tab), and 10bet's Apple Pay support comes from a third-party review.
| Casino | Apple Pay deposits | Apple Pay withdrawals | Published payout time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coral | Yes | Yes | Instantly to 5 banking days by method, after approval |
| Ladbrokes | Yes | Yes | Instantly to 5 banking days by method, after approval |
| Casumo | Yes | Yes | Instantly after approval |
| PlayOJO | Named on help page | Check the cashier | Most payments processed within a few hours |
| 10bet | Yes (third-party listing) | Not published | E-wallets up to 2 business days (category not confirmed for Apple Pay) |
There is a dedicated answer to do UK casinos accept Apple Pay, and brand detail on our Casumo payments and Coral payments pages.
How to deposit with Apple Pay at a UK online casino
- Add a debit card to the Wallet app, and make it the card you will pay with.
- Sign in to the casino and finish age and identity checks; deposits can't be taken before then.
- Set the financial limit you are prompted for before your first deposit.
- In the cashier, choose Apple Pay and enter the amount.
- Check that the card shown on the Apple Pay sheet is your debit card, not a credit card.
- Approve with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode, then confirm your balance has updated.
PlayOJO says some deposit methods can take up to 3 working days to be credited. If a deposit doesn't appear, contact support before trying again, so you don't pay twice.
Apple Pay in casino apps: what your iPhone needs
Apple Pay is at its most convenient inside a casino's iPhone app. The App Store listings for our partners set out the minimum system each app needs, and Casumo's listing is the only one that mentions Apple Pay directly, alongside a Quick Deposit option and Face ID or Touch ID login.
| Casino | iPhone app | Requires | Apple Pay in listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coral | Coral Casino: Slots & Games | iOS 18.0 or later | Not mentioned |
| Ladbrokes | Ladbrokes Casino Games & Slots | iOS 18.0 or later | Not mentioned |
| PlayOJO | PlayOJO Real Money Casino | iOS 15.0 or later | Not mentioned |
| Casumo | Casumo Casino & Sports Betting | iOS 15.0 or later | Yes, with Quick Deposit |
| 10bet | 10bet: Sports Betting & Casino | iOS 16.0 or later | Not mentioned |
All five apps are rated 18+ on the App Store. A missing mention in a store listing doesn't mean Apple Pay is absent from the app's cashier, so look there. Our guide to casino apps covers downloads and features in more depth.
Credit cards in Apple Wallet and the UK gambling ban
Apple says you can add credit, debit or prepaid cards to Apple Pay. For gambling that creates a trap. Since 14 April 2020, licensed operators in Great Britain must not accept credit card payments, including those made through a money service business. Apple Pay charges the card you pick, so a credit card in your Wallet is still a credit card as far as the casino and your bank are concerned, and you should expect the payment to be refused.
The easy fix is to make a debit card your default in Wallet, or to pick it each time. Our explainer on the gambling credit card ban covers the rule and its background, and the question can I use a credit card at an online casino answers it briefly.
Withdrawing to Apple Pay: speeds and rules
Apple Pay withdrawals are less common than deposits, but three of our partners publish them. Casumo is the clearest: it reviews withdrawals within a matter of hours, its policy promises a decision within 3 days, and Apple Pay payouts then arrive instantly. Apple Pay withdrawals are confirmed by Coral and Ladbrokes too, but they give only their general range of instantly to five banking days by method, after internal approval, and they charge no withdrawal fees.
Closed-loop rules apply: casinos generally pay winnings back to the method you deposited with. If Apple Pay withdrawals aren't offered at a casino, expect the payout to go to the card or bank account instead. Once you ask to withdraw, UK rules stop the casino offering to reverse it. See fast withdrawal casinos for quicker options and how to withdraw for the process.
Apple Pay deposits and what a slot offer costs and returns
None of the key terms we hold for Coral, Ladbrokes or PlayOJO names Apple Pay as excluded, but Coral's wording rules out "certain" deposit types and debit cards, so confirm before relying on it. Whatever the method, the qualifying play is real money at the normal edge, so it helps to put numbers on both sides.
Take Coral's offer as an example. Betting £10 on a slot with a 96% RTP costs about 40p on average (£10 × 4%). The 100 spins at 10p have a face value of £10; if the selected game also had a 96% RTP, they would return about £9.60 on average, with no wagering on winnings. That is an average, not a promise, and the selected games' actual RTPs are in their help screens. Our free spins guide explains the rest.
Gambling blocks, limits and Apple Pay
Because Apple Pay draws on your card, a bank's card-level gambling block may stop it too. HSBC's gambling restrictions page (opens in a new tab) states that its debit card block covers digital wallets as well as online, in-store and contactless payments. Other banks don't all say so, so ask yours whether its block includes wallet payments.
- Set a deposit limit at the casino; lowering it takes effect immediately.
- Use the casino's time-out or self-exclusion tools if you need a break; our time-outs guide explains them.
- Register with GAMSTOP to block all UK-licensed gambling sites at once.
- Remove debit cards from Wallet on a device you want to keep gambling-free.
Support is free and confidential: the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is run by GamCare and open 24 hours a day. More options are in our gambling support guide.

Frequently asked questions
Which UK casinos accept Apple Pay?
Among our partners, Coral, Ladbrokes and Casumo list Apple Pay for deposits and withdrawals, and PlayOJO names it on its help page. 10bet's Apple Pay support comes from a third-party review, so check its cashier. Apple Pay is widely offered by UK-licensed casinos, but availability can change, so confirm in the cashier before you sign up. Our answer to do UK casinos accept Apple Pay has more detail.
Can I withdraw winnings to Apple Pay?
Yes, at some casinos. Casumo, Coral and Ladbrokes all publish Apple Pay withdrawals, and Casumo says they arrive instantly once approved. The Coral and Ladbrokes pages give a general range of instantly to five banking days by method. Where a casino doesn't offer Apple Pay payouts, expect the money to go to your card or bank account instead, since most casinos pay back to the deposit route where possible. See casino withdrawal times for comparisons.
Can I use a credit card through Apple Pay at a casino?
No. UK-licensed casinos have been barred from accepting credit card payments since 14 April 2020, and that applies to payments made through services that sit between you and the casino. Apple Pay charges the card you select, so a credit card stored in Wallet should be refused. Add a debit card and choose it when you pay. The credit card ban page explains the rule in full.
Is Apple Pay safe for online casino payments?
Yes, it is one of the more secure ways to pay. Apple doesn't store your original card number; a Device Account Number held in the Secure Element is used instead, and each payment needs Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. The casino must still be licensed by the Gambling Commission for your money and play to be protected. Our guide on how to check a licence shows you how.
Does Apple Pay charge fees for casino deposits?
No. Apple says it doesn't charge any fees for using Apple Pay, though your bank may charge for payments abroad. Casinos set their own fees: neither Coral nor Ladbrokes charges to withdraw, and Casumo charges £3 on withdrawals under £10. PlayOJO and 10bet don't publish fees, so check their cashiers. Read our casino withdrawal fees page for the full comparison.
Do Apple Pay deposits qualify for welcome bonuses?
They aren't named among the exclusions in the key terms we hold for Coral, Ladbrokes or PlayOJO, which mainly target e-wallets and prepaid cards. Coral, though, rules out certain deposit types and debit cards without listing them all, so check its full terms before you pay. Casumo says payment restrictions apply. Our page on payment methods excluded from bonuses explains why casinos set these rules.
Does my bank's gambling block stop Apple Pay?
It may, depending on the bank. HSBC says its debit card gambling restriction covers digital wallets, so Apple Pay payments to gambling merchants are blocked once it is on. Other banks' pages don't all say whether wallets are covered, so ask yours. Blocks work by merchant codes, so a mis-coded payment can slip through. Our bank gambling blocks guide compares what each bank offers.
Do I need the casino app to use Apple Pay?
Not necessarily. Apple says you can pay online by confirming on your Apple device, or by scanning an Apple Pay code with your iPhone when using another device. Casino apps make it quicker, and Casumo's App Store listing mentions Apple Pay and Quick Deposit. Coral's and Ladbrokes' iPhone apps need iOS 18.0 or later, while PlayOJO and Casumo need iOS 15.0. See our guide to mobile casinos for browser options.
